xf86-video-amd has been renamed xf86-video-geode
Courtesy notice for developers - the xf86-video-amd driver has been
renamed to xf86-video-geode to avoid confusion with AMD's other
GPU offerings. This should help cut down on mis-directed bug
reports and questions.
Thanks,
Jordan

libc6-xen not used on AMD Geode LX system
Hi,
I'm trying to install xen+Debian Etch on a Geode LX system. Xen
boots fine, but although the package "libc6-xen" is installed I have a
large number of such errors:
4gb seg fixup, process syslogd (pid 1878), cs:ip 73:b7f24610
All processes triggers it, and from what I've found on the web it's
a sign that libc6-xen is not recognized. Indeed:

CentOS 5.x on Geode LX
Greetings all-
I'm currently working with CentOS 5.x (various version 5.0 - 5.5) attempting to run it on a system based on the AMD Geode LX CPU. There are known issues with this CPU running Centos 5, specifically those listed here:
http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2552
The kernel and system run fine on the Geode LX, but the installer detects the CPU as i586. Since there is no i586 kernel

Unable to boot from USB CD-ROM on AMD Geode LX800
I'm trying to build a bootable CD for an Advantech PCM-4153 board (based on
an AMD Geode LX800) that will allow to boot from USB CD-ROM drive. I've
created an ISO that will load ISOLINUX (3.51) and appears to load the kernel
and initrd images, but reboots the system when it tries to run the kernel.
When I use either isolinux.bin and isolinux-debug.bin, the last messages I
see on screen

Optimizing on AMD Geode (MMX, no SSE)
I'm trying to improve Opus on an AMD Geode CPU, which has limited SSE
support (called 3DNow!), but MMX.
Without optimizations I can only encode 16 bit audio @16KHz with
complexity up to 2-3 without underruns.
I tried compiling with SSE2/4 optimizations, but all I got was a crash
with SIGILL, so I looked into optimized code and found that a good
starting point was the dot product, so I

linux-2.6.18.tar.bz2 is missing
We have to rebuild our kernel to add support for a Mainpine fax board on a
CentOS 5.5 board:
http://www.hylafax.org/content/Handbook:Basic_Server_Configuration:Modem-specific_Guidance#Mainpine_IQ_Express
We followed all steps, but when calling rpmbuild, we are getting:
[root at hylafax SPECS]# rpmbuild -ba --target x86_64 kernel-2.6.spec

samba-tng-alpha-2.3.tar.bz2
yes, there's a .gz, too. there's also always patch files (diff.gz) for
those people with really slow links [in russia, hi there, thanks for
wanting to keep up with this stuff!]
this release may be a bit dodgy, it contains three separate sets of
changes:
- andrew's simplified the file-opening. however, it doesn't deal with the
shared NFS / SMB case, so jeremy is investigating

also, if you are running into problems at high debug log levels, try
reducing them to more reasonable levels (between 5 and 10 or even just 1)
and see if it works. i ran into timeouts because of too much debug
output!

binaries in syslinux-4.02.tar.bz2
Hi list,
I've noticed that there are a number of binaries in syslinux-4.02.tar.bz2, which
seems a bit odd. Even stranger is that I get different syslinux behaviour
depending on whether I rebuild these or use the ones from the tarball.
To use the ones from the tarball I:
$ make clean
$ make installer
$ make install-all
... whereas to rebuild everything from source I:
$ make

olpc theora-svn testing
Hi,
I have done a simple libtheora test for the theora ticket
(http://dev.laptop.org/attachment/ticket/5988/), using theora-svn. The
results are at:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Theora#Testing
For the sake of discussion here, 've copied some comments from the
results section on the wiki:
- the patch for super fastmode seems to give an impressive speedup.
