Okay, so you have something like this: if (CallInst *CI = dyn_cast<CallInst>(...)) { ... = CI->getOperand(1); } Can you send in this snippet of code, the assertion, and the

[LLVMdev] moving instructions
How does one move instructions from one basic block to another? I tried this: (IB is an Instruction* as is current_last, current_BB is a BasicBlock*) IB->getParent()->getInstList().remove(IB); current_BB->getInstList().insert(current_last, IB); and I get this assertion: Assertion `V->getParent() == 0 && "Value already in a container!!"' failed.

[LLVMdev] weird issue with mem2reg, should have guessed
What's different about code that's been mem2reg'd from straight front end code, or anything that mem2reg hasn't been run on? PHINODES! It appears to be crashing when I try to cast a Value* that's really a BB* (from the PHInode operands) to a User*, insteresting since I am dyn_casting. I just caught this on cerr though (printing out what the Value* was each time). Let me

[LLVMdev] setting instruction parents
When one moves an instruction from one BasicBlock to another, the instruction continues to believe that its parent is the original BasicBlock. This is very undesirable. Is there a way to set the parent or a way to move the instruction such that the parent is updated correctly?

[LLVMdev] weird issue with mem2reg
MetaSplit is an anlysis I just finished writing. It doesn't alter anything, all it does is build a set of "program instructions". For some reason even though if I run it with any other combination of passes I've found, anytime I run it with mem2reg I get a seg fault in dyn_cast! Here's output: Starting program: /mounts/zion/disks/0/localhome/pmeredit/llvm/tools/Debug/opt

[LLVMdev] IRC: Discussion About Upgrades To Bugzilla
I thought this conversation was worth saving. DannyB who did wonderful things with GCC's use of bugzilla has offered the same capability to LLVM. Thanks, Danny! <DannyB> sabre: BTW, if you need any of the bugzilla fun i have implemented for gcc, let me know [22:47] <sabre> Cool, what kinds of things do you have? [LLVMdev] Assignment instruction.
Hi. A small thing I miss in the intermediate representation is a simple assignment instruction, like: %x = uint 3 or: %x = uint %y It would simplify the implementation of frontends, I think. , Tobias

[LLVMdev] questions about installing llvm
Actually, Misha, that won't work. The -C option is used directly in docs/Makefile. So the change will have to go into docs/Makefile. Either that or upgrade install to version 5. Reid.
