[LLVMdev] Question about insert function or instruction.
Hi llvmer,
I am trying to learn how to use llvm. My question is
described as the following,
there has already a testcase code, and I get bytecode
by using llvmgcc. What I want to do is to insert a
call funcation into each basic block, which is for
statistic some information.
1) I implement call function in another c/cpp file and
can I insert the external call function to existed
bytecode ? if it

I recommend that you look at the various pieces of code under
llvm/lib/Transforms/Instrumentation, e.g. BlockProfiling.cpp and
TraceBasicBlocks.cpp. They do essentially the same thing as you are
trying to do.

[LLVMdev] Help on LLVM Instrumentation
Hi ,
I am using LLVM for my Post Graduate course project on Optimization. I am trying to do some insrtumentation to the bytecode.I 've been going through your Instrumentation code for the past few days in /llvm/lib/Transforms/Instrumentation folder and finally found two ways of instrumentation :
1) injecting LLVM bytecode instructions
2) calling an external C function.
I am trying both and

[LLVMdev] Instruction insertion By Module Pass
Hi,
I need to insert new instruction into every basic block like x=1
or while loop
I tried this code, but it doesn't work
Type * Int32Type = IntegerType::getInt32Ty(getGlobalContext());
AllocaInst* newInst = new AllocaInst(Int32Type,"flag", Bb);
Bb->getInstList().push_back(newInst);
the error:

[LLVMdev] Instruction insertion By Module Pass
Thank you for your help
I tried
Instruction* p=&( Bb->front());
Type * Int32Type = IntegerType::getInt32Ty(getGlobalContext());
AllocaInst* newInst = new AllocaInst(Int32Type,"flag", p);
that works well
but I need to store the value of the variable too.
What's the method that could be used to store specific value??

How to dig deeper
In order to get more information on IO performance problems I created the script below:

self -> ts = timestamp;
self->traceme = 1;

[LLVMdev] How to create forward reference to BasicBlock?
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there's a straighforward way to create a new
BasicBlock without inserting it into a function's basic block list? I want
to do this so I can create a forward reference to a block that's position in
the function is not yet known.
I've tried:
Function function
Builder builder;
bb = BasicBlock::Create(function,...)
bb.eraseFromParent()
...

When does ufunc/func work?
I''m trying to profile the time spent in libc functions in a large build job (building Perl), and I have trouble getting ufunc and func working. (func() is not strictly needed; I was just hoping to use it in order to profile idle time.)
Here''s the story. I''ve written a dtrace script to start a separate dtrace process for each invoked command:
int fileid;

[LLVMdev] Problem using ilist container
Hi All,
I have just started using LLVM .
i am facing a issue while using ilist container.
Here is a struct with ilist container as its one element.

int Impact;

[LLVMdev] 'opt' Aborted "While deleting: void %"
Hey everyone,
So I have an LLVM pass that appears to run completely and work fine, and
then it aborts at the very end. When exiting the final runOnFunction call,
I get the following error / stack dump. I cannot figure out why this is
happening for the life of me - does anyone have any ideas? I'm not trying
to do any crazy deallocation or anything, it just seems like a normal pass
to me.

[LLVMdev] How to Load a Value?
Hello,
I have a problem of generating a load instruction. The LLVM bytecode is:
------------------------
entry:
...
%2 = call i32 (...)* @atoi(i8*%1) nounwind
/*<- Insertpos*/
...
--
bb1:
..
%5 = icmp sgt i32 %2, %i.0
...
-----------------
Now I have
pb: pointer to the Value object of *%2* of bb1.
Here, I want to generate a load instruction and I did it as:
new LoadInst(pb,

[LLVMdev] 'opt' Aborted "While deleting: void %"
Hi Griffin, did your pass create a data structure that holds values somehow,
and forgot to delete it? Also, try running under valgrind in case this is
due to a memory error of some kind.
Ciao, Duncan.

[LLVMdev] Assert in LiveInterval update
Andy,
I've described that issue (see below) when you were out of town... I think
I am getting more context on it. Please take a look...
So, in short, when the new MI scheduler performs move of an instruction, it
does something like this:
// Move the instruction to its new location in the instruction stream.
MachineInstr *MI = SU->getInstr();
if (IsTopNode) {

[LLVMdev] PLEASE help with Alias Analysis initialization assertion at the end of my pass
Hello all,
I really, really, really need your help. This is my third email now,
please don't ignore me! I understand this must be a trivial thing, but
I've ground to a halt, and REALLY need some guidance. Please see below for
the context of my problem. I'm not trying to be a waste of time, but I'm
desperate here.
I have a getAnalysisUsage method which does the following

[LLVMdev] Adding type qualifies or property
Hi
Has anybody tell me how to create some new type qualifies in LVM?
A type qualify, like "const" in C, is useful for program
analysis. I hope that I can set/get the type qualify of any value
in a program analysed.
Or, if I could add a property to the value class and set/get the
property, it is same to add some new type qualifies. So, I simply
insert a "int" private
