[LLVMdev] Weird behavior of llvm-ld
Bram, I looked over your patch and it looks good. I applied a patch based on yours. The llvm-ld tool now uses the PluginLoader just like the opt tool. It will also run some cleanup passes after the loaded plugins run to ensure cruft is removed. See this patch for details: http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20060814/036882.html Thanks for the patch! And, yes, you are on

[LLVMdev] Any way to use a pass in opt, that does not have normal constructor?
Dear LLVM, The TargetData pass needs target data layout to be specified in constructor, and therefore its normal ctor is defined, but always gives a fatal error. Still, is there any way to make it loadable into the opt tool? I need this to make use of bugpoint in reducing backend test case. Thanks, - Dima.

[LLVMdev] Memory leaks in LLVM on linux
I am trying to figure out how to free up some memory that seems to be lost when running valgrind under our internal application. [LLVMdev] Removing contention in PassRegistry accesses to speed up compiles
Hi, We use LLVM libraries to compile C++ code and noticed slow downs when multiple threads of a process were compiling at once. *perf *indicated that most of the CPU time was spent in a spin lock, which was being locked/unlocked from llvm::PassRegistry::getPassInfo(). We read the relevant LLVM code and found out that PassRegistry is a ManagedStatic and is shared among all threads in case of a

[LLVMdev] Using cl::ZeroOrMore more pervasively with the cl::opt class
All, Is there any particular reason we don't use cl::ZeroOrMore more pervasively with the cl::opt class of command-line options? 1. Some of llvm's optimizations are enabled/disabled by llvm command-line options. Passing these options to our build system via CFF and CXXF result in redundant CL options. If the CL option is a cl::opt which defaults to cl::Optional, a warning is emitted.

Issues with XML validation after upgrade to 1.2.12
After we upgraded to 1.2.12, we've been having issues with libvirt... it complains that our formerly valid guest definitions are now invalid: error: Failed to start domain XXXX error: internal error: Cannot instantiate filter due to unresolvable variables or unavailable list elements: DHCPSERVER We looked into this, and found that it's the XML validation that's failing: # xmllint

[LLVMdev] Running specific passes
Hello, in the implementation of some analysis, I need to change the program and then invoke Mem2Reg pass. That pass, in turn, requires other analysis, so I must use PassManager. Here's the code I ended up with: bool runOnFunction(llvm::Function& m) { visit(m); ExistingModuleProvider mp(m.getParent());

[LLVMdev] Avoid Valgrind's still-reachable leak warnings
Hi, I'm Ryo Onodera. This is my first post to this mailing list. Fist, thanks for creating a great library! We're using LLVM to support JIT in Rubinius (an alternative implementation of Ruby, a dynamic programming language). I'm submitting a small patch for a minor issue. It solves still-reachable leak warnings from Valgrind. Example warnings are shown at the end of this mail. As
