Q: Bandwidth vs. bitrate
Hi! I have some MP3 audio material which is basically speech with some background noises, essentially > 120Hz and < 5kHz. I had the idea to reduce the file size by recoding the material to Opus at 56kbps. Unfortunately the result is a file sampled at 48kHz much larger than the original. I hope you agree that it does not make sense to create a file larger than the original (MP3). Of course

Q: Bandwidth vs. bitrate
Hi! So here is what I got with different encoder settings; still not sure what the "best" setting is. 6kbps seems to add distortions, so I tried 12kbps. MP3-Original: LAME 3.99r, 120kbps, 44100Hz, Stereo, VBR V5 (22:23, 19.8MB) Opus (--raw-rate 44100 --bitrate 56 --vbr --comp 5): (44:45?, 23.4MB): Broken Opus (--bitrate 56 --vbr --comp 5 --ignorelength - %d): (22:23, 12.1 MB, 74kbps)

Antw: Re: Q: Bandwidth vs. bitrate
Hi! Useful advice, thanks! Actually I had been using foobar2000 to recode, because it just makes it so easy to convert multiple files while keeping the metadata (I confess, I'm a "tagger"). But it's easy to miss some encoder option when being presented some default suggestions in a dialog form... Apart form that I always had the impression that Opus could be quite smart

Opus multi-stream/surround: Audio corruption on decoded content
Hello Everyone, I am using the opus 1.1 multistream APIs to encode a 5.1 surround stream on the server, stream it to client, decode it and capture the pcm data. I noticed that there was severe corruption/attenuation on one of the channels(specifically Back/Rear Right). This would appear to be the last channel in the stream. I am attaching an image of the PCM dumps from the original and the one

Ask for suggestions about optimizing opus on STM32F407
Hello Thomas and Amit, Thanks for your notice and the detailed decode performance report. I describe the details of my encode/decode test on STM32F407ZG. A. opus version: latest 1.2.1 (TI: opus 1.1.2) B. KEIL 5.23 (TI: ARM compiler tool chain 5.2.7) C. setup the encoder as the below (fs is the sampling frequency) enc = opus_encoder_create(fs, chans, OPUS_APPLICATION_AUDIO, &opus_err);

OPUS encoded data size and bandwidth of encoder
Hey, I am having trouble with the size of the encoded bytes by Opus. I am also having issue with the Bandwidth ctl. Here is the scenario. If I encode 16khz sampled audio: opus_encoder_ctl(enc,OPUS_SET_MAX_BANDWIDTH(OPUS_BANDWIDTH_WIDEBAND)) opus_encoder_ctl(enc, OPUS_GET_BANDWIDTH(&x)) = 1102 opus_encoder_ctl(enc, OPUS_GET_MAX_BANDWIDTH(&x)) = 1103 average encoded size = 120 bytes if I

outputing text colors
Hi all, I was wondering if there is a way to output text tables with the color of the text corresponding to a condition. More specifically, I"m outputting an time series table and want the console colors to be green>0 and red<0. This is very easy to do in excel using conditional formatting. Any ideas on how to do it here? thanks. P.S. I've thought about using a heatmap, but it

dialplan is not finding my number asterisk 1.8.3
I am calling from a polycom phone into asterisk ( 1105 ) on a PC with a speaker attached. When asterisk first starts this works. In fact it works for some time. Then it just stops with this error on the CLI. [LLVMdev] RFC: Separate machine IR from lib/CodeGen into lib/MIR
Hi all, The CodeGen library is a big bag of interdependent bits. This caused a circular dependency in the MIR serialization commit (r237954), which got reverted in r238007. I propose separating the machine IR out of CodeGen and into its own MIR library, living at lib/MIR. This touches every target but it's mostly a mechanical change that renames the header files, although a couple of

Test for X=1 fails, test for >0 works, data in text file is 1
Hi, I am apparently not understanding some nuance about either the use of subset or more likely my ability to test for a numerical match using '='. Which is it? Thanks in advance. I've read a data file, reshaped it and then created MyResults by keeping only lines where the value column is greater than 0. So far so good. The data in MyResults looks good to me by eye. The

XCP 1.0 beta : NOOB: how do i log into a newly created VM?
Hi: Sorry for the basic NOOB question but I managed to create a VM but now I am stuck. On page 26 of the XCP Virtual Machine Installation Guide it says "VNC and perform the OS installation". I tried everything I could find (listed below) but I am stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Here are two questions whose answers would really help: 1.

[LLVMdev] emitting function stub for mips16 floating point patch
I'm rewriting this patch for the stubs to not use outputing of raw text. Generating the instructions is very straightforward and that part is done. I'm translating the actual function now. How do you emit an .ent or .globl from asm printer? .type ? .end ?? .section ??? I'm studying the classes now but it should be simple to do so if you know, you can save me some time because this

Corrupted idmap...
Rowland, no domain user can authenticate on any system and running sysvolreset followed by sysvolcheck results in a crash. If the sysvol permissions are correct, sysvolcheck does not crash. If I attempt to join a NAS or workstation to the domain I get NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID. Researching these symptoms turns up a thread about a corrupt idmap.ldb where a group SID and user SID may be the same or

Antw: Re: OPUS vs MP3
Hi guys, as MP3 and Opus have very similar objectives, I think the original poster's question was a valid one: Why does Opus have more artefacts in the lower frequency ranges than MP3 has? The spontaneous suspect that lower frequency artefacts may be more noticeably than higher frequency artefacts seems plausible, also. Is it a matter of energy (which is higher for higher frequencies)? When

Hi! Since we upgraded to 1.6.1.11, asterisk is only outputing monitored files -in and -out. It is not mixing them in the end. queues.conf has monitor-type=MixMonitor... Would somebody help me debug why it doesn't mix the sounds?? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Corrupted idmap...
I started getting NT_STATUS_INVALID at a client location recently and now everything has stopped working. Upon a day of searching and testing, I realized that my idmap.ldb is likely corrupt. How can I recover from this, shy of creating a new domain from scratch? The NAS devices no longer authenticate users so files are inaccessible, computers cannot access the sysvol, and sysvolreset/sysvolcheck
