3.0.2 works with kerberos 1.2.7 for a while, then stops
I installed RH9 and the RH9 binary rpm of samba-3.0.2a from the ftp
site. I added default_realm, kdc, and [domain_realm] sections to my
krb5.conf file because for some reason it can't get them from DNS
(haven't worked that out yet) and with a small edit of smb.conf was able
to join the new samba install to our 2k3 active directory. wbinfo -t
and kinit and stuff all worked as did getent

Problem with samba+openldap with regard changing passwords from windows
I have implemented samba with LDAP backend, domain logins and roaming
profiles and everything is great - except for one thing.
Noone can change their passwords from windows - trying to change your
password results in windows telling you your not allowed to do that!
I did smbldap-show alan and among other information the line:
sambaPwdCanChange: 0 appeared.
From my understanding if I do

Getting printer to work under 5.2
Hi
I have a standard hplip install on my 5.2 box installed from the repos
(it originally was installed from the 5.1 disks and followed any upgrade
that may have occured in the transition to 5.2). My printer is a HP
Deskjet F4180 connecting via USB.
I can't get the printer to work. Documents manually printed from the
file menu in OO.o 2.3 stagnate in a print queue, while the print icon

Printing to remote usb printer
My networked printer has developed a fault and has to be returned to the
manufacturer, so I have to go back to a usb printer attached to my file
server. In the past I worked happily with a remote printer, but I'm having
no success at all today, and could do with some prompting.

Samba 4, CUPS, and one slow printer
I'm running CentOS 6.5, cups-1.4.2-50, and sernet-samba-4.1.4-7. I have five Ricoh copiers configured as printers using RAW queues in CUPS. Samba is configured as an Active Directory domain controller.
I followed the "Samba as a print server" guide in the wiki. The [global] section contains load printers = yes. The [printers] section contains the following:

Digital Works 95: Problem with animated dashed lines on elements
I've installed the latest available wine
[ebuild R ] app-emulation/wine-0.9.22
and have issues with Digital Works 95. this is an old tool we need for
creating digital circuits at home.
If I place an element in workarea it gets unvisible as long as I have
marked it. If I release focus it appears again.
In a real windows installation the elements have an animated dashed line
around.

Suddenly one printer stops to print
Hi all,
I'm still a young man having trouble with his fresh new Samba 3 setup.
I've got another small issue with Samba.
Our Samba 3.0.2-2 (Debian Sarge) is acting as a PDC, but also hosts a few
printers shares, with cups.
Suddenly today only ONE of our printers stopped to work.
From an XP Pro SP1 Client, we cannot print anymore.
An attempt to print a test page fails, and here is what

trying to print from windows 98 to mac usb printer using samba
Hello,
this is my first post to this list, so if there is another list which
might be better, I would appreciate a link.
I am trying to print to my wife's printer which is hooked via usb to her
powerbook with Mac OS 10.2.
Having played with samba for quite awhile I can now view and write to
her mac from my windows pc. But I still cannot print.
I have enabled all print sharing options in

I'm running Samba Version 3.0.14a on Debian Linux. My sm.conf is listed at

HL-1440 laser printer and an HP-5510 Office Jet

"laser" and the HP is named "multiuse". I have a multi-boot system on the

HAL adds printer twice
Hi,
When I want to configure a printer, say an HP Deskjet 940, I install
hplip, configure cupsd.conf, open up http://localhost:631 and configure
the printer in the CUPS interface. Now whenever I want to print, I see
that the selfsame printer is added again, and CUPS mentions it as "added
by HAL".
Is there a way to stop this sort of behaviour?
Cheers,
Niki

Calculating Goodman-Kurskal's gamma using delta method
Dear list,
I have a problem on calculating the standard error of
Goodman-Kurskal's gamma using delta method. I exactly follow the
method and forumla described in Problem 3.27 of Alan Agresti's
Categorical Data Analysis (2nd edition). The data I used is also from
the job satisfaction vs. income example from that book.
job <- matrix(c(1, 3, 10, 6, 2, 3, 10, 7, 1, 6, 14, 12, 0, 1, 9,

Window isn't readrawn after beeing in background
Hi,
I've already made a bug out of this: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25160 but it seems only to happen for me.
I've asked others, e.g. the other test-result-submitter for Black Prophecy, no one has the same problem. So I think it's somehow related to my own wine-settings.
I'm using gentoo with openbox and wine-1.3.7, the following configure:
Code:

CUPS working but errors from Windows clients accessing printer
Hi,
On CentOS 6.4 (newdc), I have CUPS 1.4.2-50.el6_4.5 installed, can
access its web interface. There I set up our main shared printer, an
OCE Imagistics cm2520, and successfully printed a test page.
With SerNet Samba 4.0.9 on the same box configured every which example
way I could find, I cannot seem to get it to the point where
double-clicking the printer in Windows (W2K3, OLDDC) opens

rsync takes long pauses in xfer ?
Hey folks,
I did some googling on this but did not come up with much. I'm using
rsnapshot which uses rsync, and I notice some pretty long pauses in
the xfers as you can see on this graph from "munin". THe machine in
question right at the moment is doing nothing but rsyncing (
rsnapshoting ) some 12T of NAS storage to local disk, so there is
nothing else going on at all.
