Xapian on Android?
Yes. Something like Kiwix, but a different infrastructure and manifold content options.

Not specific to Android, but for this sort of use case you may find the
"single-file database" feature useful (the feature was sponsored by

Compilation problem with a few configure option
Hi
Compilation of 1.3.7 dies with the following configuration:
====================================
./configure --enable-shared --enable-static --disable-sse
--disable-backend-inmemory --disable-backend-remote
====================================
During the compilation I get the following error:

Xapian 1.4.0 released
I'm delighted to announce the release of 1.4.0. You can download from:
http://xapian.org/download
This is a major milestone release, but the last development release (1.3.7)
was essentially a release candidate so the changes arefairly minor - the only
notable change is the update to Unicode 9.0.0.
That means a short thank you list for this release - thanks to Andy
Chilton!

Geospatial matching status?
Hi
Does geospatial coordinates indexing/matching works in 1.4.5?
I have found almost no documentation on this but it seems the
development is stopped (merged?).

Question about embedding Xapian index in one file
Hi,
Xapian uses a directory as standard storage backend. Is that possible to
pack everything in a file (a tar file for example), and to tell
libxapian to open it (by telling him at which offset are the different
stuff)?
If this is not possible yet, would that be technically possible to
implement such a feature? How complex would that be?
Kind regards
Emmanuel

Xapian 1.4.0 released
I have installed the new Xapian 1.4.0 , during the installation, I
haven't seen any problems, however, when I execute commands quest and
delve I get different versions, and my Perl-based searches return
Exception: Couldn't detect type of database ... and what are these
glass things in the index directories? There is a no new version of
Perl Search::Xapian.

flatpak installation package?
Is there any chance for a distribution independent flatpak installation package for R ?
See: http://flatpak.org
Background: I recently bought an Acer notebook with endless OS preinstalled
(see: http://endlessos.com). It is Debian based, but uses only flatpak as installation
package format.

Of course... R _is_ open source. However, it is unwise to assume that the volunteers scratching itches for their preferred distros will take on additional work... it is more likely that you will need to take on scratching that new itch.

Just wondering if there's docs on what improvements users can
expect from honey. Mainly smaller size?

Xapian 1.4.0 released
The issue is that delve was renamed to xapian-delve but documentation
is still saying that delve is delve. Who has access to update the
documentation?

Xapian 1.4.0 released
This is really great. Thank you very much for all the work, in
particular on the single-file backend feature. We will start to release
new versions of Kiwix dealing with this in the next weeks.

Set Term Frequency for a Query
Hello,
I have a problem when trying to define a query and setting for each term its
"term frequency" with the classical constructor

Merge databases
Dear all,
I try to use the xapian-compact tool to merge several databases. I need to
keep the document ID.
The problem is that xapian-compact is not able to merge databases because of
overlapping "doc ID range". Nevertheless, in my case, a doc ID is always
used for one and only one database.
Is there a (other) clever way to simply and quickly merge databases ?

Glass backend freeze agenda
Hi
What is the agenda concerning the Glass backend? Any chance to have it
frozen in the next months? We love it and are in waiting position to use
it in production.

smbgroupedit does not honor ldap parameters from smb.conf
Hello,
I've been using samba-3alpha22 as a PDC authenticating against LDAP. I
am trying to add NT Groups using the smbgroupedit utility.
It seems to me that smbgroupedit always looks in /etc/group and does not
take into account the ldap configuration options specified in smb.conf.
The relevant ldap entries are:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://ebola/
ldap suffix="dc=datasoft,
