serializing recordedplot object
I use recordPlot() to save plots to disk that I render later to a
variety of formats. This works fine for base R plots and ggplot2
plots, and also used to work for lattice plots. However somewhere in
version 2.14 things stopped working for lattice plots. Here is an
example:
library(lattice);
histogram(rnorm(100));
x <- recordPlot();
saveRDS(x, "myplot.rds");
y <-

YAML serialization
Hi,
something wrong with ActiveRecord or YAML? They don''t put Strings
into Quotes when it serializes. This gave me trouble when I
serialized a String with a double colon (eg. ''key: value''). After AR
unserialized the Value it became a Hash since a String ''key: value''
becomes attribute[:key] => value... :(

The Database object itself effectively does (it works in a snapshot of
the state of the database when you open it, or last called reopen()

FASTER Search
I am suffering for slow searching performance on Xapian.
I am using Xapian for indexing about 150,000,000 documents.
It was implemented in C++;
The performance of searching was not that fast.
e.g. Searching a query, which includes about 20 terms, needs 2 secs avg.
For searching, I followed such steps:
1. construct a QueryParser for certain string
2. parse the query to get a Xapian::Query

Replace atoi and atol with strtol strtoul:Need Help
Hello,
I came across the file *omega.cc* which is in directory*
xapain-application/omega/*
In this file , atoi is used in *Percentage Relevance cutoff *(293 line no)
as Percentage lies between 0-100 their is no need to modify atoi . But do
we need to check for error's ?
Second Implementation is in *collapsing* (301) in which we collapse set of

unserialize and eager execution
Hi,
While debugging a network server I'm developing I noticed something unusual
- call to unserialize() resulted in
an error about loading a namespace.
I was a bit taken back by this - why should unserializing an object cause a
namespace lookup?
Are there any other side-effects of unserialize() that I should be cautious
about? I've been
digging through the R_Unserialize() call, I

serialization for external pointers
Hello,
Are there any recipe to handle serialization / deserialization of
external pointers.
I'm thinking about something similar in spirit to the way we handle
finalization of external pointers.
Currently, if we create an external pointer, save the session, quit R,
then load the session, we get a null pointer.
One way I'm thinking of is to have an environment in the

Xapian posting lists in memory mode
Dear Members of Xapian Project,
Sorry for troubling you this time. This is Miao LIU, a postgraduate student working on information retrieval system related areas.
I have been using Xapian (https://xapian.org) for quite a few months as the database and the searching engine in my IR system. I am currently facing
a tough problem that I'd like to put all my posting lists in memory of my

Handling "unmarshalable" model object attributes
All,
I have an attribute on one of my model objects that cannot be serialized
because it contains a Proc.
Is there a way for me to mark this attribute as "not to be
serialized/unserialized" so that session marshaling/unmarshaling won''t
fail?
Thanks,
Wes

xapian core missing link to math on MSYS2
Dear All,
I've tried to build xapian-core 1.4.3 on MSYS2. It fails with attached
error (undefined reference to `exp10'). I think it might be missing an
explicit link to 'm'. I'm not able to fix this myself as I do not
know autotools sufficiently well, but I hope you might be able to help.
Cheers,

Ideas for allowing specification of weighing scheme for Eset
Hey guys ,Hi :) I am working on a hack which will allow the user to
specify a weighing scheme (along with the parameters , if he does not not
want to use the default values) to build the Eset (rather than using the
hard coded TradWeight scheme with default k=1 ) as Olly had suggested
that we can probably get better terms (a more relevant Eset) for query
expansion if we use say something

Vorbis 1.0 spec notes, part 1
I have undertaken a small project of writing a Vorbis decoder
completely from the spec, with the goal of catching any errors, both
typographically and algorithmically, in the spec. My "reference"
decoder is also being written in an extremely methodical style, with
practically no algorithmic optimization, such that it will be clear
that every step has been copied exactly from the spec.

Arrays Partial unserialization
Hi all,
I'm working with some huge array in R and I need to load several ones to
apply some functions that requires to have all my arrays values for each
cell...
To make it possible, I would like to load only a part (for example 100
cells) of all my arrays, apply my function, delete all cells loaded,
loaded following cells and so on.
Is it possible to unserialize (or load) only a

RESTful xapian server needs help
For the last year we have been working hard in releasing an open source RESTful xapian server named Xapiand (https://github.com/Kronuz/Xapiand) that will offer clustering, replication and some other neat features (similar to what elasticsearch offers, but the final goals go beyond it); however, for our Xapiand server to work, we need to have a few changes in xapian-core that are **essential**.

I ran into an interesting error unserializing a file created with

does Xapian::Enquire hold an MVCC revision?
In other words, is it possible to avoid duplicates if new
documents are inserted into the DB by another process in-between
->get_mset calls when reusing Xapian::Enquire objects?
I do some expensive processing on each mset window, so I always
limit the results to limit heap usage even if I'm planning on
going through a big chunk of the DB:
$mset = $enq->get_mset(0, 1000);

xapian.DocNotFoundError: regression?
Hello,
I've installed xapian-core 1.1.3 and xapian-bindings 1.1.4 from the
tarballs announced by Olly the other day. With these versions,
Enquire.get_mset() seems to consistently be raising
xapian.DocNotFoundError.
I've attached a small test case which reproduces this. The same test
case works fine with 1.0.16 (not the latest 1.0.x, but it's what I had
installed).

Replace atoi and atol with strtol strtoul:Need Help
Hello ,
I came across this function *HtmlParser::decode_entities(string &s)* in
*xapian-application/omega/htmlparse.cc* which basically does is extract hex
value if any or extract number.For extracting number atoi is used and value
returned by it is stored in variable "val" , I think so replacing atoi with
strtoul would be useful here as number can have larger value although the
