Is the project learning to rank need to be improved?
HI, Parth:
Thanks for your reply.
There's xapian-letor folder in current master trunk, is this code merged in
2011? the letor code of 2012 is not merged to the trunk?

Introduction and Discussion for Learning to Rank Framework
Hello All,
This time we are working on a weighting scheme "Learning to Rank" which
involves machine learning and its a supervised ranking scheme unlike
unsupervised schemes like BM25 under GSoC project.
This mail intends to discuss the framework of the Learning to Rank in Xapian
as a whole. I have thought of the following framework, pour in your insights
or issues for the same. This is

Sorry for a delayed response.
The way I was thinking of performing reranking with updated weights was to
add a class MSetRanker (basically containing a

Is the project learning to rank need to be improved?
As Olly has already pointed out the 2012 branch is not merged.
I think there are some compilation errors in the branch.
The code in branch is better refactored. The Ranker and FeatureManager
classes are well defined and implemented.
Parth.

GSOC - 2013 - Introduction (Learning to Rank)
Hello Everyone,
I am looking forward to contribute to Xapian and also apply as a Google
Summer of Code student. I would like to start by introducing myself. I am a
final year M.Sc.(H) Chemistry and B.E. (H) Electronics and Instrumentation
student at BITS - Pilani, Goa. I am interested in Machine Learning and
presently pursuing my thesis on the same. I have been selected for Google

Normalization in Letor
Hi,
Wanted to know if other normalization techniques like
normalization by standard-deviation have been tried to normalize the
Feature-list in Letor.

GSoC 2016 Letor Stabilisation
Hello,
I'm Ayush from New Delhi, India. I am interested in Letor Stabilisation
project for GSoC. I have a good background in machine learning. Sorry for
getting in so late, university exams were holding me back. I'll try to
cover as much as I can in the coming week.
I am following the plan of attack suggested on the project page. Following
are the things that I have completed:

xapian-letor refactoring and adding tests
Hello,
I applied to letor stabilisation project for gsoc. I'd like to use coming
weeks to improve the workability of xapian-letor. For that, I'm planning to
refactor code in current master and begin writing some tests for it.
Before adding tests, I think it would be better if xapian-letor could be
made consistent with how xapian-core is written. For that, I'd first like

[GSoC2012] Learning to Rank: few thoughts/issues
Hello,
I would like to work with Orange as part of GSoC 2012(and continue
henceforth). Apologies for joining in a bit late- i was waiting to get a
proper grasp of things before discussing it here. Currently I am a Masters
students in Mathematics with my bachelors in Computer Science[integrated
dual degree]. Over the last year and a half, I have worked on a few ML
projects and have a couple of

GSoC 2016 Letor dataset discussion
Hello,
I wanted to decide the dataset that should be used for Letor stabilisation
project.
I think 2009 INEX Wikipedia Collection
<http://www.mpi-inf.mpg.de/departments/databases-and-information-systems/software/inex/>
should work fine. It's a collection of 2,666,190 XML articles, 115 topics

Patch: New features for Learning to Rank
Hello,
Please find attached the patch which contains new features for the LETOR
framework which increases the total features from 19 to 37. In my proposal
I had mentioned of having a final count of 44 IR specific features apart
from those learnt by unsupervised feature learning part via Deep Learning.
So I am left with 7 out of those 44,of which 6 I will be implementing

GSOC 2017 Project: Learning to Rank Click Data Mining
I am interested in the project 'Learning to Rank Click Data Mining', and
here is my current understanding about this project:
1. where can we get your click data. we can extend the omega to supports
log the user's search and clicked documents
2. the specific click data information and format. Based on some paper and
public query dataset format(AOL search query logs[1] and Sogou

xapian-letor: FeatureVector discussion
Hello James, Parth,
Following our discussion on IRC and on code review, the way FeatureVector
class works needs some discussion.
Presently, the FeatureVector class is defined as follows, with a fixed
number of feature count (19):
class FeatureVector::Internal : public Xapian::Internal::intrusive_base{
friend class FeatureVector;
double label;
double score;

Letor stabilisation - project progress
Hello everyone,
I have completed introducing some code from v-hasu's branch into mine,
mainly for Features, FeatureVector and FeatureManager classes. I have
pushed the changes to https://github.com/ayshtmr/xapian/tree/letor-update. I
am now proceeding to write unit tests for feature modules.
There are a few things that I wanted to clarify:
1. I have introduced a lot of code in a single
