Formulating Advanced Queries with Xapian-Omega
Hello,
We have Xapian-Omega installed (Linux) and working in default mode and
have
browsed several interesting pages on the main site, at trac.xapian.org
(the wiki) and in the mailing list. Having tested various search
options
(up to now only for Omega) we would like to ask a couple of questions.
1. Is it possible to search for Patterns of Text with Omega and/or
Xapian Queries ?

trouble with user's right indexing with omega
Hi,
I'm using omindex to index files and I want make query with user/group
boolean prefix (I*, I at ... and I#...). That work well with "other" and
"group" right, but not in all case for "user" right.
Here is an example:
assume that we have an user "ftp" not in "users" group. If file right are:

Perl Search::Xapian
Hi,
Trying to learn Search::Xapian and be better at perl at the same time,
I'm stuck, at the DB_CREATE_OR_OPEN error. Perl says this:
~/dev/sandbox/Xapian-perl$ ./Index1-Xap.pl 100-objects-v1.csv db
"db" is not exported by the Search::Xapian module
Can't continue after import errors at ./Index1-Xap.pl line 7.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./Index1-Xap.pl line 7.

Empty results OMEGA with XAPIAN 1.0.1
Hi,
I configured XAPIAN 1.0.1 and OMEGA 1.0.1. on my development machine
(first removed the old ones). I recreated my databases (both quartz
and flint) and tried to run original queries against the databases
created by the new versions.
I'm getting empty result sets from OMEGA. If I use the delve tool I
actually see that the records are created fine. No log files are
written as far as I

omega issues/notes
All,
I've run into a couple of things using omega/omindex under cygwin. I don't
think I'd attribute them to xapian, omega or omindex, but wanted to get
them out to the list so that if anyone else should run into these things
down the road, hopefully someone will remember and be able to help.

range query for terms
first, thank you,xapian!
then I'd like to ask if it is possible to do a range query on terms(like the range query on values), or if it is just a wildcard(right truncation) match.
the case is searching ip address bettween ?10.10.0.0? and ?10.10.255.255?
the user want :
1. query "10.10.10.10" < ip < "10.10.10.12" gives "10.10.10.11"
2. query

Improving partial lookup results
Hi,
I'm exploring using Xapian to to replace a database-backed people lookup.
It's working well but I'd like to know if there's anything more I can do to
increase accuracy.
It handles partial phrases well, so long as the first part is complete
(e.g. "Peter Bow" expands well). If instead I type "P Bow" it fails to
work, as the expansion is done at the end. Is

[python indexer] add meta informations
Hello,
I'm trying to index some blog stuff through python bindings.
I'd like to know how to add some informations (url, title, date, and so on) so that I can reach them through a xapian.Enquire object..
I believe it's something to be set in xapian.TermGenerator(), but... I can't manage to find which function. I'm waiting for something like :
xtermgen.add_meta('url',

xapian bug tracker registration email is not working
I tried to register yesterday, twice with 2 email addresses. The website
said it sent me mail, I never got a mail. Someone else, please confirm
this is broken.
A bug I'd like to file is that I'd like an option to search
*word. Currently you can only search word*. The example where I would
find this useful is searching for urls and email addresses. For example,

Build Error in trunk (omega)
Hello,
There is a build error by what looks to be a typo in
xapian-applications/omega/omega.cc
My checkout is about 15 minutes old, so it's possible it has been caught
since then.

omega vs. alpha explanation
Dear all
I wonder if someone can explain what is the main difference between omega
and alpha reliabilities?
I understand an omega reliability is based on hierarchical factor model as
shown in this graph<http://rgm2.lab.nig.ac.jp/RGM_results/psych:omega.graph/omega.graph_002_big.png>,
and
alpha uses average inter-item correlations.

combining databases for omega
From the documentation I've read, omega can read from multiple
databases, but I'm not sure how to go about this.
I have three databases created using omindex, currently located at
/var/lib/xapian-omega/data/share, /var/lib/xapian-omega/data/users, and
/var/lib/xapiax-omega/data/management
The quickstart guide says that in omega.conf database_dir should point
