Session ids and identification
Hi all,
AFAIK, session ids are generated and given to a user side as a cookie or
whatever so that we may later "identify" a user and their previous
authentication by that id. But this is not secure! It doesn''t matter if
we use https or "secure cookies" or some other crap. It doesn''t matter.
As soon as you trust the client to provide you with valid data, you

Bugzilla invalid certificate issues
EV certs attempt validate the identity of the organization that holds them. That is a nice assurance to have from a place that makes the thing that compiles your code.

libnss_wins crashing Firefox/Iceweasel?
I'm using Debian Sid, and it seems like Iceweasel (aka Firefox) has been
crashing a lot lately with "Bus Error" printed to stdout when it dies.
I use mono/.net and python, so my C/C++ debugging skills are very
lacking. I was able to capture the following using gdb on Iceweasel:
Program received signal SIGBUS, Bus error.

Problema con función readSIAR del paquete solaR
Saludos:
Hace unos días me encontré con un problema en la función readSIAR del
paquete solaR; pensé en actualizar pero no lo hice en el momento.
El caso es que acabo de actualizar el paquete solaR -y el resto de
paquetes también- y veo que el error no se va.

XML issue
Debian Lenny, latest Wine.
I just installed a program that my WOW guild is raving about. Had to install
.NET 2 to get it to run. Only problem so far is that I can't open a saved
profile. It saves in XML format. That part seems ok, but I can't open it
again. The process hangs on the first of three steps, locks up, and I have
to force quit the app. I can open and read the file with a web

GPL java
For the people who are currently interested in java as it relates to
centos now that Sun has GPL'd java there are some things to be aware
of.
The folks at jpackage.org are pretty much all over this development
but it's not the bright shiny news everyone has made it out to be. Sun
did a very good thing by moving java under the GPL, and they should be
commended for FINALLY seeing the light

Name resolution error help needed
Hello,
I've checked the FAQ and followed steps I can find there. I made sure my
/etc/hosts is correct as in the FAQ. I tried complete
uninstall/reinstall of Wine and data. Iceweasel and all other normal
linux programs work fine to resolve addresses. WoW under Wine works
fine. Fresh install of Firefox for Windows only works under Wine if I
use a IP address instead of a hostname, so Wine

thunderbird and email duplication
Hi all,
I have recently switched over to Dovecot from CourierIMAP trying for
some speedup, which I did get. Installation went OK, so all seemed fine.
But suddenly I realised, that incoming emails are replicating
themselves. This seems only to happen when connected with Thunderbird. I
am also using Squirrelmail and KMail as clients which don't seem to show
the behaviour.
It seems to

php includes lost
We have a windows network and the server is running mysql and php. If I
access our web app via firefox from a windows box the app works fine.
However, if I connect to it thru my laptop which is running Debian
Etch and using samba I can access the web page but it doesn't function
properly because the include statments in the php code aren't
functioning properly. I have a feeling
