do the java-swig bindings compile under windows?
I still can't get xapian core to build on windows so I guess it is kind of moot to begin with. Just wondering.

Test errors on fresh installation
Hi all, I installed xapian smoothly as per the guidelines mentioned in the HACKING file. However, I am getting test errors on tests related to python3 bindings after running them using `make check` on this fresh installation. The log can be seen here <http://pastebin.com/bnsTFG2e>. Can anyone here help me out to figure out why they are failing? Please let me know if any more

Test errors on fresh installation
Hi Olly, I updated my local repo and built it again, but still getting the error. I took a look at python3/test-suite.log file, but I could not locate the source of test failure. Please find attached the log file with this email. I am available on IRC(nick : ankit_agrawal) if that seems a convenient medium for you to help me out with this issue. Thanks. Google Summer of Code 2010
Google are running their Summer of Code again this year. If you aren't familiar with it already, you can find out more here: http://code.google.com/soc/ I'm wondering if we should apply to take part. I'm happy to act as admin (which I did for SWIG last year so I know what is involved), and put together the application. Mentoring organisations have to apply this week (closing on

java bindings 1.0.0 - jni.h not found
Hi all, I am new to Xapian and want to use it with Java. In order to do that I tried to compile the Java bindings. I set XAPIAN_CONFIG and invoked "configure". However "./configure --with-java" exits with an error. Point of failure: checking for jni.h... no checking for jni.h in /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/include... no checking for jni.h in

Can't build xapian-bindings in a virtual env
Hi, I'm on a Ubuntu 18.04 server, trying to use django-haystack with xapian in a python3.6 virtualenv. The virtualenv is set up not to use system packages, meaning that I can't just install python3-xapian-haystack with apt, and instead have to manually build xapian-core and xapian-bindings within the virtualenv. This works with xapian-core and the --prefix argument to configure. When I

Status of the java-swig bindings?
I just get the latest version of Xapian 1.2.2 and see that the Java bindings still aren't in a package. Do these work? I am trying to hack them into a package but I can't find where the actual swig -java command is being executed from to add the -package command. Any ideas? -- Jarrod Roberson www.vertigrated.com/blog

I think what i did is the same with you except i use make rather than make -sj8, and I did as root. And I do as you wrote again: root at hurricanetong-VirtualBox:/home/hurricanetong/xapian-1.2.17/xapian-core-1.2.17# ./configure [...] root at hurricanetong-VirtualBox:/home/hurricanetong/xapian-1.2.17/xapian-core-1.2.17# make -sj8 Making all in . Xapian 1.3.4 development snapshot released
I'm happy to be able to announce that Xapian 1.3.4 is now available. Please note that 1.3.x releases are development releases - they are made to encourage earlier and wider use and testing of new and changed code. Our record with 1.1.x was very good - all the bugs I am aware of were either in new features, or were also present in the corresponding 1.0.x release. But if you main concern is

Xapian 1.4.0 released
I'm delighted to announce the release of 1.4.0. You can download from: http://xapian.org/download This is a major milestone release, but the last development release (1.3.7) was essentially a release candidate so the changes arefairly minor - the only notable change is the update to Unicode 9.0.0. That means a short thank you list for this release - thanks to Andy Chilton! As always, if

New stable release series - Xapian 1.2.0 released
I've uploaded Xapian 1.2.0 (including Search::Xapian 1.2.0.0). This is the first release in a new stable release series! 1.0.x will continue to be updated with bug-fixes for a while, but we will be moving focus away from it and once any issues with 1.2.x have been sorted out, we'll only fix critical bugs in 1.0.x. Please don't confuse 1.2.0 with 1.0.20 announced a few days ago.

LIttle problem when installing xapian-bindings-1.4.22
Dear xapian discussion, I was just installing xapian-bindings-1.4.22 on Ubuntu 22.04, but I got the following warning message: configure: WARNING: Xapian library is version 1.4.18 but the bindings are version 1.4.22 - we strongly recommend using matching versions. I tried to check my xapian core-1.4.22 for the library, but could not find that library. How do I fix this? I will appreciate your

I've just built trunk (on Mac OS, admittedly),
