What I did is I got a list of printer names along with IP addresses and using the CUPS lpadmin -p printer-name -E -v lpd://IP_ADDR/lp I loaded them onto the new machine running RHEL 4.6. Printer tests show that it works fine. And if I use the CUPS web interface at http://localhost:631 Everything shows up.

Is there a way to transfer a Samba printer "database" from one version to another? I tried copying the .tdb files from v2.2.6 to v2.2.8pre1 but it didn't seem to work. Some sort of upgrade path is needed here - it's a lot of work to start over if you've got a lot of printers. PCC

I have a WinXP guest under VMWare on my CentOS 5.1 host and it can access the CentOS printer(s) just fine.
