no luck with filesystem storage type
I have a directory on the host that I would like to be visible in the guest/domain. Using virt-manager I selected the directory, resulting in this configuration: <filesystem type='mount' accessmode='passthrough'> <source dir='/mnt/SASInstaller'/> <target dir='/mnt/SASInstaller'/> <address type='pci'

Re: virsh confirmed edits do not persist
Thanks Ján! >What were the exact changes you were trying to make? I was following this guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PCI_passthrough_via_OVMF#Passing_keyboard/mouse_via_Evdev Specifically, I was updating the domain tag to include `xmlns:qemu=' http://libvirt.org/schemas/domain/qemu/1.0'` >both call virDomainDefineXMLFlags under the hood. That is good to know,

[RFC PATCH TRIVIAL] Reading the virtio code...
From: Rob Landley <rlandley at parallels.com> Going indirect for only two buffers isn't likely to be a performance win because the kmalloc/kfree overhead for the indirect block can't be cheaper than one extra linked list traversal. Properly "tuning" the threshold would probably be workload-specific. (One big downside of not going indirect is extra pressure on the table

[PATCH V13 4/4] Documentation/kvm : Add documentation on Hypercalls and features used for PV spinlock
KVM_HC_KICK_CPU hypercall added to wakeup halted vcpu in paravirtual spinlock enabled guest. KVM_FEATURE_PV_UNHALT enables guest to check whether pv spinlock can be enabled in guest. R CMD check vs RStudio check
Ivan, thank you for the tips; they allowed me to move on to the next problems. By building the tar file first and checking it later, and fixing several other problems I got R CMD check to work. It does *not* delete inst/doc. It also does not run boostrap.R, as far as I can tell, presumably because only devtools does. Check within RStudio continues to delete inst/doc, so this behavior is

Re: getting oriented/networking [some success]
I seem to have run into https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855640, because when I tried the fix/work-around at the end (comment 11), ethtool -K eth0 gro off, my download speed by speedtest went from undetectable to ~150Mb/s. However, it was not able to connect for the upload test, and so something may still be off. Non-virtual machines can do the upload test, so it's not just a

S4 non-virtual class with no slots? [SOLVED]
Thanks, Martin, that (inherit from a virtual class) worked great. I already had a base class created with setUnion, and so this was an easy switch. I had assumed that since inheriting from a class without slots would produce a class without slots the result would still be virtual. Fortunately that's not the case. 9p host/guest permissions & selinux...?
Hello Folks It's with some trepidation that I venture on to such a heady newsgroup, but I'm about ready to throw myself off a bridge after getting this all set up and apparently working only to be struck down by permissions and selinux hell (either, or both). I've followed instructions here: http://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/9psetup

Re: getting oriented/networking
Dear Boyland, In collaboration with some of this mailing list users, I had put some effort in optimising the guest settings in function of a windows guest. The libvirt-gui doesn't include these options. You'll have to edit the XML in virsh. This was my conclusion on 15-03-2015 but I added the hugepages tip in this list today. As for networking, I only use or bridged or the default virtual
