Unexplained shutdown of VM on upgrade of libvirt package
I am running KVM on Centos 6.3 and am seeing an unexplained shut down of two guests. The libvirt package was upgraded to libvirt-0.10.2-18.el6_4.4.x86_64 at the time of the shutdown. Only the two guests shown below was affected, while 9 others running on the same hypervisor were not. Can some one help me to find the cause please ? Regards Chandana GUEST #1 ======== 2013-04-10

virsh reboot "in shutdown" state?
Hi all, I've got a weird issue, and I'm trying to confirm if it's a bug, and if so, if there is a workaround until it is fixed. The situation is this: If I virsh reboot <domain> --mode acpi, it will actually reboot the domain cleanly (watching from the console allows me to see the full shutdown messages, followed by a bootup). However, after this point, virsh domstate

Running libvirtd inside chroot (mock to be precise)
Hi, I was wondering whether it's possible to run libvirtd inside a chroot environment. The assumption is that only one instance of libvirtd would be running on the machine at a time, but still, inside chroot. Currently in my chroot env I have: - /dev/kvm added with mknod - /dev/vhost-net added with mknod - mounted:   - /dev/net   - /dev/shm   - /run/dbus When I run libvirtd in

CAP_FOWNER=ep for asterisk
Hello, I need CAP_FOWNER=ep for the asterisk process, i set it with setcap on the file /usr/sbin/asterisk, it's there when i look on it with getcap, but after starting and loocking with getpcaps there's only cap_net_admin+ep set. So how exactly do I set CAP_FOWNER? Do I have to patch and recompile or is there another solution I did not see yet? thanks, best -- Raimund Sacherer

consuming pre-created tap - with multiqueue
Hello, On KubeVirt, we are trying to pre-create a tap device, then instruct libvirt to consume it (via the type=ethernet , managed='no' attributes). It works as expected, **unless** when we create a multi-queue tap device. The difference when creating the tap device is that we set the multi-queue flag; libvirt throws the following error when consuming it: ``` LibvirtError(Code=38,

dovecot & cap_net_admin capability
Hi, we've seen SELinux reports from our users that dovecot tried to use something that needs CAP_NET_ADMIN capability. Before enabling it, we would like to know where it originated from. I've checked the sources, but was not able to find anything that would require this capability. Do you know for what it is used? CAP_NET_ADMIN Perform various network-related operations: * interface

consume existing tap device when libvirt / qemu run as different users
Hello, I'm having some doubts about consuming an existing - already configured - tap device from libvirt (with `managed='no' ` attribute set). In KubeVirt, we want to have the consumer side of the tap device run without the NET_ADMIN capability, which requires the UID / GID of the tap creator / opener to match, as per the kernel code in [0]. As such, we create the tap device (with

How does the libvirt deal with the vnet mac address
How does the libvirt deal with the vnet mac address? Greetings, if I establish a network for the VM (hypervisor is KVM) using bridge in the virt-manager , a vnet0 device is created . There are some relationships about mac address between the vnet0 device in the hypervisor and the ethX device in the VM, for example : the mac address of vnet0 is FE:54:00:84:E3:62 the mac address of ethX in the VM
