why does rsync translate user@host into '$RSYNC_RSH -l user host'?
Why does rsync believe it knows more about the use of the token to the left
of the colon than the program which will be used as the remote connection?
I have a script called sshto with accepts targets like this:
host1!host2!host3
and constructs the requisite ssh ProxyCommand options to do a multihop
ssh to host3 to run a command. Very useful if connecting to firewalled
nonroutable hosts or to

Duplicated (but only for unread) messages after second rsync pass...
Ok, I know I should probably be using dsync for this, but I'm more
familiar with rsync, and didn't think this would be a problem.
Here is what I am doing, and what is apparently happening (only done
this once, but I'm guessing it will happen each time):
rsync -avHP /mnt/vmail/example.com/user1/ /var/vmail/example.com/user1/
chown -R vmail:vmail /var/vmail/example.com
Ok, so far

</controller>
it gets added again when i close the editor.

[PATCH 1/2] mllib: hostname: replace the hostname on Debian also in /etc/hosts (RHBZ#953907).
In Debian/Ubuntu systems, read the previous hostname from /etc/hostname
before replacing it, and try to carefully replace it in /etc/hosts with
the new hostname.
Since Perl_edit to edit /etc/hosts, it is added/changed as dependency
for Hostname.

imapsieve suddenly not working anymore
Hello one and all.
Dovecot version 2.3.7.1
I've configured imapsieve like
https://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/AntispamWithSieve a while a go and it
worked
for years now. Suddenly i noticed moving mails to the spamfolder does
not trigger the report-spam.sieve
script anymore.
sieve-test gives:
~/.maildir/.Spam/cur $ sieve-test
/usr/share/dovecot/sieve/report-spam.sieve

Incremental Backups
Hello.
Is someone performing incremental backups via libvirt for qemu/kvm
machines? I'm still having a hard time to
find a nice procedure. I mean is it possible to make a full backup of an
image on monday a do the next days of the week
incremental backups?
Another way could be mount the image and rsync its contents. Does that
makes sense?
Also i read in qemu changelog:

Patch to fix dynamic add/delete to zone functinality

I''m running systems with openswan and modified _updown script supporting
shorewall dynamic hosts. Because on problems with cvs head version of
openswan I found a error from shorewall dynamic hosts support. When host
is already in zone shorewall aborts adding process with error. This is
not good thing(tm).
I found out that deleting host from

I'm not able to register Softphone(X-lite) in asterisk(Which is installed in EC2 Cloud).
Hi Thomas,
I followed your recommended command in asterisk CLI which is mentioned in
above chain mail but I'm not able capture any log related to softphone.
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)

Live snapshot merging (qemu 2.0)
Hello.
The Changelog of qemu-2.0.0 mentioned "Live snapshot merging". Someone
has an idea what could be ment by this? I'm asking because i'm still
struggling with finding a reliable backup solution for running kvm
machines. Blockcopy is my current solution.
best regards

Re: machine='pc-q35-2.1' and sata controller
What's the status of the SATA controller migration bug? Are the
patches for it expected to be in 2.4?
Looks like they didn't make it into 2.3.
Since you last wrote, if the SATA controller patches aren't in yet, is
there any new way to avoid the SATA controller device, if you have no
SATA devices?
Thank you.
