Big devices and missing space
Hello,
I have a Promise EX 12-port RAID controller in my box, connected to 8
750GB disks. I have set up 2 RAID-5 devices and joined these using LVM.
This is working fine.
However, there is something that seems wrong..
(4-1) * 750 = 2250, but df reports the LVM volume as a mere 4.0T;
/dev/mapper/storage_volume-stor 4.0T 3.6T 507G 88% /storage
Shouldn't this be 4.5TB?

[Request] mod_auth_ntlm_winbind
http://adldap.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=mod_auth_ntlm_winbind
I have built an rpm for my own use, by grabbing the source files from
sambas' web interface to cvs.
It would be real neat to have it packaged and available through yum.

Transgaming patch
Appologies if this has already reached the mailing list, but I don't think I
was properly subscribed until recently - so If anyone replied, I would be
very grateful if they would do so again :-)

Hello...
I don't know if this is quite the right mailing list for this question...
Basically I've got wine + transgaming patch compiled and working, except...

Laggy and faulty Samba server
Hi,
I've installed Samba a few times, and I always have the same problem -
except now I really want to get rid of it.
My Samba server is very, very, very slow on occations (not always), and
some times it's really annoying.
What happens is that it doesn't seem to be online for a period of 5-10
seconds once every minute! If I'm copying huge files, it's working
great, but when

opengl problems
I have a 3dfx voodoo3 card, in X4.0.2 using the DRI opengl libs from
dri.sourceforge.net
my problem is, although 3d acceleration works for me under wine, all opengl
games are horribly flickery and some of the surfaces are transparent
because of this
has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it?

CentOS as VPN Gateway?
Hello,
I am currently setting up my new router, and I opted for using CentOS..
Now, I need OpenVPN support, and I'd rather not install it from source.
I tried yum, but there doesn't appear to be any packages for it available..
Any tips?

MRTG Problem - no traffic recorded
Hi all,
I've just recently replaced my old firewall with a new one, running
CentOS 5..
Yesterday, I decided to get MRTG up and running again, so I entered
sections like this into the mrtg.conf file:
Title[vlan10]: Bandwidth usage on tenchi.4th-age.com (Internet)
PageTop[vlan10]: <H1>Traffic stats on VLAN 10 (Internet)</H1>
Target[vlan10]: `ifconfig vlan10 |

Package request: php, pear: spreadsheet::excel::writer
Hello,
I am currently using this PEAR package to generate .xls documents in PHP;
http://pear.php.net/package/Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer
It would be very much appreciated if someone could add it to the
repository, as it is always to prefer rpm packages over manually
installed ones.

EVMS?
EVMS Enterprise Volume Management System sounds interesting,
looks like it supported CentOS4, but not CentOS5.
But maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

Really bad Read performance
Running Samba 2.2.7, compiled with LDAP support. I'm suffering from really
poor read performance problems on the server. Write speed is fine (after
adding "interface = <ip of eth0>/24"), giving about 4.4 MB/s. However,
reading files from the samba shares is just not usable. Reading a large (34
MB) file from the server takes more than 3 minutes on a W2K Pro client.

Extracting error terms from an lme object
Hi all,
I have a problem with extracting the right error terms from an lme-object.
The fixed part of the model is quite simple (y~x1*x2, where x1 and x2 are
factor variables with two levels), with random intercepts (random=~1|group).
As I work with factor variables here, I would like to display this with a
barplot (or something like that), with error bars representing the sem or sd
of the mean

Sweave with dev.new()
Dear list.
I am preparing a R package, and the last step is to write a package
vignette using Sweave. However, I am experiencing some trouble when trying
to include plots in my Sweave document. That is, in my package I have made
some plotting functions in which I start by calling 'new.dev()' to start a
graphics device of a certain width and height, and then proceed with
plot(). These

Scrollable DIV causes flicker in FF - SlideDown & SlideUp
I have a fixed height scrollable div inside another
div that controls the slideDown and slideUp effects.
This causes a really bad flicker in Firefox (1.0.7)
for the entire duration of the slide down and up.
While on the other hand it works smoothly in IE
(except that on a slideUp it causes a last second
flash that shows the entire div).
Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Thanks.

flicker in IE with SlideDown/SlideUp
The flicker I am seeing in IE is really really bad with SlideDown/SlideUp.
The element I am sliding is a div that contains a table. The tables are
stacked on top of each other so that the presentation actually appears as a
single table.
When I SlideDown, the toggled element flashed into view then disappears
before sliding down. On SlideUp it slides up then flashes into view for a
split

The flicker of the status bar.
Hi, all!
I''ve just started to use wxruby under Win2K. I didn''t use wxWindows
earlier. Can anybody explain why the status bar flickers at the top (!)
of the frame when I resize the frame and how to avoid this?
(the following code is the simplest example)

Tearing in my buffered animation test script...
OK, I have a basic blit demo working (thanks to Alex Fenton for his
reply, which I finally saw).
However, there''s a great deal of "tearing" on the screen - flickering
grey lines in the black background. It looks like the blit isn''t
always complete when the screen refreshes.
Can anyone look at this and tell me what I might be doing wrong? Any
help would be most
