LXCs using Libvirt
Hi all, I am trying to bring up lxc's using Libvirt JAVA API. I do the following: conn = Connect("lxc:\\\") xml_config = "<domain> .... <\domain>" dom = conn.domainCreateXML(xml_config, 0) dom.create() Using the above code, I am able to start a domain but the domain is not visible within the "lxc" list, i.e when I use the command "lxc-ls

LXC and syslog seperation (/dev/log)
Hello, I'm seeing syslog messages "bleed" from the host and other LXC into the messages, maillog, secure logs of other LXCs. I'm using libvirt 1.0.0 on a host with systemd and kernel 3.9.10. Each LXC is running an older non-systemd linux distribution Is this a known issue? Is there a work around? Thank you for you time, Jim -- James R. Leu | Director of Technology | INOC

making samba 4.2 in a container
Thanks for the info. Did you create unprivileged containers to run Samba in? Re: accessing USB as storage device through lxc container.
Thanks Martin for the info. I have tried the below snippet in the libvirt xml. <hostdev mode='capabilities' type='storage'> <source> <block>/dev/sdc1</block> </source> </hostdev> ------------ root@ir800-lxc:~# mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/usbdr/ mount: permission denied (are you root?) ---------- It works if the

Cran2deb4ubuntu: An Update for 2014
I have been a little quiet on the update front for the past few months, so I thought I would give a quick update as 2014 begins. Between increased responsibilities at work (pseudo-department chair) and some family health issues, work on [cran2deb4ubuntu](https://launchpad.net/~marutter/+archive/c2d4u) (c2d4u) slowed a bit in the last half of 2013. Building XML from working qemu command-line for ARM virtio
Hello, I've got a working QEMU command line that I am trying to get into a libvirt dom xml and using domxml-from-native doesn't seem to know how to handle all of it. It's for ARM using some new virtio syntax: qemu-system-arm -machine virt -cpu cortex-a15 -enable-kvm -m 512 -kernel mach-virt-guest-3.11-zImage -display none -serial stdio -netdev type=user,id=mynet -device

making samba 4.2 in a container
Thank you for the excellent advice. so an lxc container should be a privilege vm. Do containers share the same file system like a BSD chroot jail? Or do they have a virtual disk image like vmware or virtual box? Sorry to be dense here. If you know of any good tutorials on making lxc containers, I'd like to read them. My thinking was that I would make an lxc container for the addc instance

Xen 4.3 on Ubuntu 13.10?
I''m eager to test Xen 4.3 with Ubuntu 13.10 (saucy). I tried compiling Xen from source, but unfortunately, I didn''t have much luck. Will Xen 4.3 be available in the Ubuntu 13.10 repository any time soon? If not, is it available from any ppa as a .deb?
