libasan bug: pthread_create never returns
Hi all, We observed that under certain circumstances pthread_create() (libasan implemention) does not return. The conditions are the following: - address sanitizer enabled - main and child thread run on the same CPU (affinity) - real-time scheduling policy for both threads - different scheduling priority values (this includes the case of setting a real-time policy for one of the threads and

changing the priority of a process in the container is not permitted
Dear all, I want to run a process in a container with a real-time (RT) priority. When the sched_setscheduler(0, SCHED_RR, &sparam) is called in the container, an error is reported which is "operation not permitted" I had added the following line in the file /etc/security/limits.conf for both the host and the container, which means allowing all users to change the priority of the

Help with include files & current CVS
Hello, I'm trying to compile a brand new CVS Asterisk and running into trouble with include files. I have an older version of Asterisk that I can compile (2-3 months old) that I can compile fine, but the new one gives me this: make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/matt/asterisk_update/stdtime' if [ -d CVS ] && ! [ -f .version ]; then echo CVS-10/01/03-13:06:31 > .version; fi

Libvirt installion error: You must install the libyajl library & headers to compile libvirt
Dear all, I am installing the libvirt 1.2.5 on my newly installed Fedora19. When I run ./configure, an error is reported: "You must install the libyajl library & headers to compile libvirt" In fact, the package yajl-2.0.4-2fc19.x86_64.rpm has been installed on the fedora19. I found several links talking about this error and I downloaded 3 files (configure.ac, m4/virt-yajl.m4,

KVM bridge wonkiness in Fedora19
Greetings, I'm attempting to get several virtual machines setup on a Fedora19 host system, with the traditional bridge network devices (br0, br1, etc). I've done this many times before with older versions of Fedora (16, 14, etc), and it just works. However, for reasons that I cannot figure out, the bridge doesn't seem to be working in Fedora19. While I can successfully connect to

RT/Linux SCHED_RR/_FIXED to combat latency?
Good morning! We're experiencing rather very bad latency spikes on busy Linux systems, for example if one machine is the jumphost (ssh -J) for a few hundred connections, while at the same time handles CPU intensive tasks. Would RT/Linux SCHED_FIXED or SCHED_RR be of help in such a case, e.g. put all ssh processes into the SCHED_FIXED scheduling class, with a priority higher than the

set up a Gluster 2 node cluster in two lines of code :)
Hi gluster ! For those of you who need to spin up virtual gluster clusters for development and testing: Just finished creating a vagrantized, fully automated, totally rebuildable and teardownable two node fedora 19 gluster setup and shared it on the forge! It uses fedora19 but since its all vagrant powered, you dont need to grab or download a distro or iso or anything, just clone the git repo,

Qxl problem with xen domU, is xen spice and/or qemu bugs?
I''ve been trying to have all spice features working on xen domUs since the end of 2011. Basic functions were already working. Adding qemu parameters manually for vdagent and usbredirection was and is also working (I made the patches to support them directly on xl). Qxl was never working: one bug on xen and one on qemu about qxl are fixed, the other xen bug found months ago on the

monitiring cpu usage via cgroup
Hi I was asking about the fedora 14 kernel if it is good enough for cgroup usage because I am trying to set a cgroup under cpu subsytem ( /dev/cgroup/cpu/group1/ ) that have /cpu.rt_runtime_us of 100000 while cpu.rt_period_us has a value of 1000000 i.e a ratio of 1/10 . still when I run a task (endless loop) in that group (cgexec -g cpu,cpuset:group1 ./test) it gets all the cpu core time

aliases for graphic devices
Hello, AFAIK, aliases cannot be set for Graphics devices. I tried this very simple experiment with libvirt 1.2.4 (from virt-preview on F20) relevant part of the input xml: <graphics type='spice' port='-1' autoport='yes' listen='127.0.0.1'> <listen type='address' address='127.0.0.1'/> <alias

Re: How to configure the container's NIC automatically with an assigned IP address
Dear Gene, Thank you for your response. I want to assign a static IP address to my container, I wonder if I can achieve this by editing the container's /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. I tried this, but failed, and eth0 is always not assigned an IP address automatically (my host and guest are fedora19). Am I missing something? I don't know much about the booting procedure of a

libvirt RPC error
Hi, I'm using qemu+ssh://username at hostname/system as the remote URI. Libvirt seems to be communicating fine until some 2 minutes (we poll every 5 seconds) and then it throws up RPC error and many counters are wrong. But if I collect on localhost the counters seems to be coming fine. Test and testvm are guests on the local machine where as Win8 and Ubuntu* are remote URI's connected

I have tried the below snippet in the libvirt xml. <hostdev mode='capabilities' type='storage'> <source> <block>/dev/sdc1</block> </source> </hostdev> ------------ root@ir800-lxc:~# mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/usbdr/ mount: permission denied (are you root?) ---------- It works if the
