Re: method for communication between containers
Dear Daniel,
Thank you for your email.
According to your suggestion, I tried to use the shared memory filesystem for data exchange between the host machine and the container. The steps are as follows:
1) create an empty file in the host machine (/tmp1/file1).
2) run #chmod 777 /tmp1 and #chmod 777 /tmp1/file1.
3) expose /tmp1 to the container by configuring the container with the following XML

Re: method for communication between containers
Dear Daniel,
As you know, following your suggestion, I can expose shared memory to two containers hosted by the same machine, thus the two containers can exchange data. Now I have a new problem: how does the containers avoid concurrent accesses to the shared memory? In a native system, this can be achieved by using semaphore. But I don't know how the two containers can see the same semaphore.

[PATCH] ocfs2: llseek requires to ocfs2 inode lock for the file in SEEK_END
llseek requires ocfs2 inode lock for updating the file size in SEEK_END.
because the file size maybe update on another node.
if it not . after call llseek in SEEK_END. the position is old.
this bug can be reproduce the following scenario:
at first ,we dd a test fileA,the file size is 10k.
on NodeA:
---------
1) open the test fileA, lseek the end of file. and print the position.
2) close the test

USB bootable (using syslinux)
Hello!
I just started using Linux and I like the possibilities it offers.
I'm using Suse Linux (no MS Windows installed at all).
I also discovered that syslinux is capable of making a USB pendrive bootable (with graphic menus).
This is very nice.
Since I'm a Windows user (up until now), I have some questions:
1 - I already downloaded syslinux 3.82
How do I install it on my pen drive

How to switch between current running wine apps
I really don't know how to google this or forum search this question as I have been trying to find the answer for an hour or so. I apologize if it's somewhere on the board spammed a lot but: How do I switch between different running wine apps. Pretty much, how do I use an emulated version of Alt+Tab in Wine? I don't know the hotkey, thanks!

If you have an area of filesystem that is shared + writable to both
containers, they could

DTrace and shared memory id
Hello all,
I saw this question about a year back in the archive[1], but with no
final answer.
I would like to trace shmget calls and also get the id of the shared
memory segment.
That script looked like[2], but we dont get the id since arg1 is the
errno value.
How do i access the shm id, i would need this to debug a customer
problem but i don''t have time to learn it the hard

Starting emacs gives "shmget failed: error 28" message
In CentOS 6.7, if I start emacs from a terminal session, I always see
a message, "(emacs:{PID}): Gdk-WARNING **: shmget failed: error 28 (No
space left on device)"
The message is also logged to .xsession-errors, and that occurs
regardless of how emacs is started. The same thing occurs with
SELinux in permissive mode.
Emacs version is emacs-23.1-28.el6.x86_64 .

Increasing shared memory?
I have a machine with fairly much memory 16GB and I get
shmget failed: error 28 (No space left on device). It seems
that I may be out of shared memory, how do I increase that?

dropping capabilities in lxc containers
Hi there
I’m not quite proficient with libvirt yet, and have been using it so far primarily to manage lxc containers
I was hoping to find a means to configure the set of capabilities that guests should drop, but came across a few web pages suggesting these were set in stone in the code
is this correct, or is there a means to tweak this set from the host via the xml config or a virsh command ?

If it's possible for a third-party PCIe card to be shared by multiple containers
Dear all,
I have a thirty-party PCIe card in my host which can work properly in native mode.
I wonder if this card can be shared by multiple containers.
As far as the network interface is concerned, too many efforts have been made for it. Two dedicated cgroup resource schedulers/subsystem(net_cls, net_prio) have been provided at the kernel level, and libvirt has also done a lot of work on

Real time threads don't work in libvirt containers under CentOS 7.3
We've been using libvirt based containers under CentOS 7 and everything
has been working fine. One application we run in our containers is ctdb,
which uses SCHED_FIFO (real time) threads. This has been working without
problems until our recent upgrade to CentOS 7.3. For some reason, ctdb
is no longer able to create real time threads, and I've tried a simple
program myself that

Re: If it's possible for a third-party PCIe card to be shared by multiple containers
Dear Daniel,
The thirty-party PCIe card is based on the Xilinx’ FPGA which is off the shelf, the main features are as follows:
1) x8 Gen3, 8Gb/s per lane/direction
2) MSI and legacy interrupt support
3) Scatter-gather packet DMA engine provide by Northwest Logic
We hope multiple Linux Containers to access the PCIe card in time division mode, for example, during slot 1, lxc1 read/write the PCIe

How to create a string containing '\/' to be used with SED?
Hi guys,
I've been struggling to find a solution to the following issue:
I need to change strings in .ini files that are given in input to a program
whose output is processed by R. The strings to be changed looks like:
"instance = /home/TSPFiles/TSPLIB/berlin52.tsp"
I normally use Sed for this kind of things. So, inside R I'd like to write
something like:
command <-
