Advice request for building a centralized vm disk provider server
Hello again, sorry for mailing in so short time but I have another question about live migration. >From redhat documentation I see that the storage for a VM which has to be migrated has to be shared throught some mechanism and I have chosen iscsi. Anyway I now would need a way to dinamically create a new virtual machine and so a virtual hard disk, note that this vm will have to be migrated

Re: Create virtual machine failed using virDomainCreateXML
Dear Michal: I'm sorry. The pasting XML I described earlier is wrong, and the real thing is: <interface type='bridge'> <mac address='52:54:00:0a:2b:2a'/> <source bridge='lcs_br_1'/> <virtualport type='openvswitch'/> <bandwidth> <inbound average='0' peak='0'/>

openvswitch port with no ip
I used openvswitch with virt-intall I defined a network <network> <name>private</name> <bridge name='virbr0'/> <forward mode='bridge'/> <virtualport type='openvswitch'/> </network> But get no ip for the ovs port when I launch the instance. Is this correct? ci-info:

[ovs-discuss] OpenVswitch with KVM virtual machines
I am running NOX controller with a python script that prints out the destination mac and the source mac for each packet arriving at the now controller and then floods it out. So here's what happening: With em1 connected, all the packets that arrive at em1 are coming to the controller and printing out the details. However, without em1 connected to the OVS, when I have the following setup:

Virtual switches support (Openvswitch, VDE,...)
Hi, IIR/UC there have been a couple of discussions lately about possible evolution of libvirt's network management features to eventually support more kinds of virtual networking technologies like Openvswitch, VDE,... Could a kind and informed soul keep us on touch with progress in the field ? Thank you very much in advance PS: I wish this will be available before/for 1.0 release...

Re: Virtual Bridge "Network" for Sandbox
Paul, if you can set up a VLAN on your network infrastructure between the two hosts, I'll share the recipe I use with Open VSwitch. We trunk a VLAN between our hosts for sandboxed guests, setting up a OVS bridge on each host that handles guests but also has a connection onto the VLAN. Are you using any configuration tool? I've got this in Puppet but should be able to convert to a shell

Create virtual machine failed using virDomainCreateXML
Hi all, When I created a virtual machine using virDomainCreateXML, with virtualport type was openvswitch, and virtual machine creation failed. The error message is: internal error: Child process (/sbin/tc filter add dev vnet110 parent ffff: protocol all u32 match u32 0 0 police rate 0kbps burst 0kb mtu 64kb drop flowid :1) unexpected exit status 2: RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument The

OpenVswitch with KVM virtual machines
Hey, I have KVM installed on my Fedora 17 box. I added the network interfaces of the virtual machines to the openvswitch bridge as follows: ____ ____ / VM1\______br0_______/ em1\ \____/ | \____/ | _|_ /VM2\ \____/ virbr0 is the virtual network switch VM1 and VM2 are on the same subnet having tap interfaces vnet0 and vnet1 respectively. em1 is the default

"connection refused", but server is listening
netstat -lptu gives me tcp6 0 0 [::]:16514 [::]:* LISTEN 1314/libvirtd so the server is correctly listening on interfaces. My /etc/libvirt/libvirtd settings are defaulted. My /etc/default/libvirt-bin has "-d -l" options so server is listening. If I do virsh -c qemu://143.225.229.190/system (that is my ip or an ip belonging to my network) I

Re: Virtual Bridge "Network" for Sandbox
Thanks Laine, I will take a look at Open vSwitch, it looks interesting. I am a generalist, I need to know enough about a lot of things to get many different tasks done, but do not have the in depth knowledge required to "patch" anything.  If I manage to wrangle a working solution should I post it? Needless to say I would be supportive of said feature being implemented by those

Bug#679533: Traffic forwarding issue between Xen domU/dom0
retitle Traffic forwarding issue between Xen domU/dom0 thanks This week again this bug occurred again so we are trying to create some kind of reproduce algorithm. First we've created two virtual machines named koekiemonster.bofh.hq.mendix.net and netappsim.bofh.hq.mendix.net. We've added 29 vifs to koekiemonster.bofh.hq.mendix.net. During this tests we've always had a ping

[PATCH V2] vhost_net: clear msg.control for non-zerocopy case during tx
When we decide not use zero-copy, msg.control should be set to NULL otherwise macvtap/tap may set zerocopy callbacks which may decrease the kref of ubufs wrongly. Bug were introduced by commit cedb9bdce099206290a2bdd02ce47a7b253b6a84 (vhost-net: skip head management if no outstanding). This solves the following warnings: WARNING: at include/linux/kref.h:47 handle_tx+0x477/0x4b0 [vhost_net]()
