Lifecycle of a connection to libvirtd
Hey! I am trying to figure out how to reliably maintain a connection to libvirtd. From the documentation, I would expect something like that: - virConnectOpen() - virConnectRegisterCloseCallback() - virConnectSetKeepAlive() - Application logic And in the registered callback, I would: - virConnectUnregisterCloseCallback() - virConnectClose() - virConnectOpen() -

Libvirt event for disk change is not being registered by DomainEventRegisterAny()
Hi, I am writing an application which would monitor the changes on the domain on the KVM hypervisor through libvirt events. Recently I have upgraded my libvirt from 9.4 to 9.10 and I have this issue. While *de-registering* for DomainEventDiskChangeCallback, I get a libvirt error saying 'libvirtError: internal error domain event 2 not registered;' where 2 is the callbackid

Sensible, Manageable, CentOS puppetmaster?
I''ve been going round in circles a little bit in the last few days trying to figure out how to get a 64-bit CentOS-based puppetmaster that can be managed/provisioned via puppet also - so I''d like ruby, passenger, rails etc coming from RPMs and yum. As far as I can see, the three choices are: 1) Puppetlabs prosvc repo, which specifically says it can go away at any time 2)

[PATCH v4 2/7] common: Bundle the libvirt-ocaml library for use by virt-v2v
Add a copy of the libvirt-ocaml library, currently available at: https://libvirt.org/git/?p=libvirt-ocaml.git;a=summary This is a snapshot at commit d3ed8dcf1b0a6a8a855ceecbe0bb97f21e6665e3, which has all the features we need (and that builds fine). It is expected to stay synchronized with upstream, until there is a new upstream release, and it will be widespread enough. --- .gitignore

Change one file, and they all get sent!
Hi, Just starting out with rsync, and I think I might be missing a fundamental point of how it works. Scenario: I start an rsync daemon on host A, and define a module 'test' on the rsyncd.conf file. 'test' is essentially my home directory on host A I then sign on to host B and issue rsync --progress --recursive --links --stats arthur::test/ /var/tmp/haggis This copies

[v2v PATCH 0/2] Move libvirt-ocaml copy to v2v repo
libvirt-ocaml is used only by virt-v2v, so move it to this repository, instead of having it around in the common submodule. The removal from common will happen later. Pino Toscano (2): common: Bundle the libvirt-ocaml library for use by virt-v2v build: switch embedded copy of libvirt-ocaml .gitignore | 2 + 3rdparty/libvirt-ocaml/Makefile.am |

Problems connecting to Virtualbox hypervisor using libvirt java binding
I am trying to connect to the virtualbox hypervisor through libvirt java binding. I am on Ubuntu 10.04 and I have installed libvirt-0.85, libvirt-java-0.4.6 and virtualbox-ose-dkms. I have configured libvirt project and its java binding at Eclipse and the default test of the binding runs properly. When I try to run a simple test in java with the connection: conn = new

Can't see more than 8 files? MTU-ish issue?
A colleague is working with a Samba installation where Windows clients are accessing the server over a VPN. They are seeing an issue where a share is visible, but if a directory contains more than 8 files, they get an error. The VPN is set to allow everything in both directions. Windows->Window sharing does work OK across the link, as do other large file transfers (NFS, FTP). The Samba

long startup times for large file systems
Howdy, Rsync has been churning away for 45 mins, presumably bulding an in-core list of files to be copied to the destination. This is a very very large filesystem we are copying locally - approximately 4.2million files (WebCT). The resident process size for rsync has grown to 72Mb. - is this normal behaviour for a file system this size, and does rsync have the ability to handle such a large

"Registering" a node with a central service?
I have a couple of applications (backup, Cacti, Asset Tracking) where I want a node to have some package and config installed, and once that is done, some config to be done on another system to register the client with a central server. Is there a standard way to do this, short of having some kind of web service accessible from all the client systems? From my limited Puppet knowledge, anything I
