Qemu-guest agent
Hi all,
I am new to libvirt, I am trying to execute some commands inside guest
domains from my host machine using libvirt-Python API. So far I have been
able to open up a stream but I am not sure how to send commands on the
stream (through virDomainOpenConsole). After hours of searching through
different forums I found out that there is a utlity called qemu-guest agent
which can solve my problem.

[PATCH v4 00/34] Configurable policy for handling deprecated interfaces
This series extends QMP introspection to cover deprecation.
Additionally, new option -compat lets you configure what to do when
deprecated interfaces get used. This is intended for testing users of
the management interfaces. It is experimental.
-compat deprecated-input=<in-policy> configures what to do when
deprecated input is received. Available policies:

Libvirt supported qemu-ga commands
Where can I find the full list of libvirt supported qemu-ga commands?
The docs [0] imply virDomainQemuAgentCommand bypasses libvirt and is not
recommended.
I am looking to pass suspend/resume events from the host to the guest
and then have the guest act on this internally. Your help is appreciated.

[PATCH 0/2] Fixes and tweak to the installation of qemu-ga MSI
This, together with the changes to common repo are fixes to the installation
qemu-ga MSI.
There is still an issue that I did not figure yet how to fix. On Windows 10 it
fails to register the QEMU-GA service.

Re: Programmatically force shutdown a guest: possible?
Yes, you are right.
Listen, as the documentation is not very exaustive, can you explain briefly
to me how a guest agent works?
After installing it via the apt-get on the hypervisor (I am using ubuntu as
host system) how can I create a script which would do this?
That is waiting for an acpi signal and actually shut down the guest.
And what other operation can you actually do with a guest agent? I

timeout on VM actions prone to hang
Hi fellow libvirt users,
I'd like to ask, whether somebody possibly dealt with similar
problem we're hitting.. Some of libvirt VM operations (ie
fs freeze) are prone to hang for long time, in case the guest
agent is in some bad state.. My question is, if it's possible
to set some timeout for such operations, or we have to deal with
it ie with separate thread and some timers? we're

Qemu-ga on Windows 10
Hi,
I have a windows 10 guest with qemu-ga-x64.msi installed from the fedora virtio iso.
qemu-ga version is 0.12.1
host qemu version is 2.1.0 (I know its older but in this version the active block commit works perfectly...)
libvirt version 1.2.12
I have these lines in my xml:

Re: Starting processes inside VMs using Libvirt?
Thank you Eric,
I am using KVM: qemu.. I'll try to see how I can use qemu-guest-agent..
If you have links to examples on how to start with it let me know please.
Consider the following simple scenario..
I am using KVM to run several VMs; one of OSs in the guests is Windows XP.
I want to send to it something from the Hypervisor level, e,g
text,parameters,etc
so that it will be displayed in

[PATCH v3 0/6] initial suspend support
This patch series makes suspend support in qemu alot more useful. Right
now the guest can put itself into s3, but qemu will wakeup the guest
instantly. With this patch series applied the guest will stay suspended
instead and there are a few events which can kick the guest out of
suspend state: A monitor command, ps/2 input, serial input, rtc. Not
much yet, but it''s a start with the

Using virsh to load scripts for the guest machine
Right on the top of
http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Virtualization/chap-Virtualization-Managing_guests_with_virsh.html,
it seems to imply you can load/send scripts to the vm guest using virsh.
Is that possible? How and what are the limitations? Can you query the vm
guest?

Thank you so much for your quick and relieving answer.

RE: guest-fsfreeze-freeze freezes all mounted block devices
Hi Peter,
Should I assume that the virsh domfsfreeze, does not require the
qemu-agent service in the guest?
PS. I couldn't find the result. Afaik it looks like it is returning the
amount of frozen/thawed filesystem's
