libvirt RPC error
Hi, I'm using qemu+ssh://username at hostname/system as the remote URI. Libvirt seems to be communicating fine until some 2 minutes (we poll every 5 seconds) and then it throws up RPC error and many counters are wrong. But if I collect on localhost the counters seems to be coming fine. Test and testvm are guests on the local machine where as Win8 and Ubuntu* are remote URI's connected

Host information from libvirt KVM/Xen
Hi, I'm able to get the CPU utilization metrics from libvirt for the guests (VM's) remotely . Is it possible to get the Host Cpu stat's through libvirt ? I didn't find any information regarding the host cpu cycles and memory utilization to collect them remotely. Libvirt is installed on all the hosts. [libvirt] virDomainMemoryStats call
Hi, Is the array mstats returned by virDomainMemoryStats call cummulative or snapshot of the counter at that particular time ? I was of the opinion that is cummulative like the /proc counters but this counter seems to go backwards ie next snapshot value is less than the current one which makes me think these are snapshot values . I'm using RHEL 6.3 libvirt version 0.9.10. Regards,

Help with Citrix XenServer
Hi, It''s been forever and a day since I last posted here, mainly because I haven''t touched Xen in a few years now due to job changes... But now I''ve been handed a project to work with XenServer, Citrix''s commercial grade Xen. So, I wanted to ask if there were any people here with experience using XenServer, XenCenter and so on, or if you knew of a better list

Best way to backup virtual machines from Citrix XenServer.
Hi All. I have installed Citrix XenServer. It's Linux-based virtualization software. Could anyone propose a good way to make backups of virtual machines (Linux/Windows) in it? XCP XenAPI fencing script (clustering support)
Hi, I think this would be the best forum, let me know if not. I am in the middle of writing fencing scripts for Citrix XenServer virtual machines (specifically for use with Redhat Clustering, but will also work from pacemaker etc) and I noticed that XCP uses the same XenAPI (from what I can tell). Just wondering if someone would be able to test the scripts on XCP and let me know if they work.

Sound or USB passthrough for Windows guest at Citrix XenServer 5.6 Free
Hi there, I''ve started using Xen through Citrix XenServer 5.6 Free. Now I am thinking about adding a USB sound device to my virtual Windows machine. One idea would be to access a virtual audio device that streams audio to a client. I''ve stumbled over the possibility to SSH-forward PulseAudio but this is not possible for Windows on either one or the other side of the chain.

Installing a CentOS based distro with Raid driver - Citrix XenServer
Hi everyone, I'm trying to install a XenServer on a server (ref:S5000PAL) http://www.intel.com/products/server/motherboards/s5000pal/s5000pal-overview.htm The installation failed because of lack of Raid driver, I found this out because I tried to install XenServer without raid and it worked great. XCP and OpenXenCenter
I just noticed OpenXenCenter (aka OpenXenManager) that is an open source replacement for Citrix's XenCenter. This tool works with XenServer. But as per the blog entry: http://blog.xen.org/index.php/2010/02/09/xen-cloud-platform-installation/ it is also supposed to work with Xen Cloud Platform. XCP is licensed GPL2 and is a combination of multiple packages. Has the team looked at the

xend with XenAPI in stackless python-2.7
Hi, I am using XEN-4.1.2 and linux-2.6.32 as dom0. After I upgraded stackless python from 2.5 to 2.7 (and rebuilt xen). XenAPI became unusable, I spent some time to investigate XenAPI,py, it looks fine. So, I guess xend has problem with python 2.7, because it always returned method unknown. Do I have to tweak xend to let it support python 2.7? Thanks, Eric /root # python Python 2.7.5 Stackless

Xen and Enomaly
Hi list, Right now I''ve to find some graphic (or web!) interface to administrate our new data center infrastructure who will be running over Xen. I''ve been googling around to find something, and looks like Enomaly is a good choice. Can anybody give me some feedback about this? Or maybe recommend another front-end interface? Thanks in advance. Boris.
