libguestfs-tools with libvirt SASL authentication
Hello, I'm running into an issue using the 'virt-df' command when SASL is enabled in libvirt. I'm running version 1.26.5 of libguestfs on an Ubuntu 14.04 OS. I'm running 'virt-df' for all guests at one time, not specifying a domain or image to use. I was expecting a SASL authentication prompt but to no avail. Below is a sample run: root@all-in-one:~# virt-df -P 15

Name resolution not working inside virt-customize
Hi! I am trying to use virt-customize to add packages to an image. However it seems that there is a problem where a resolv.conf is not being installed and thus package installation fails. The command is: virt-customize -v -x -a trusty-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img --run-command "host openstack.org" I am having a hard time gathering complete output as the command seems to

Use virt-* tools from within container?
Hi, all. I've set up an LXC container for various Openstack admin chores, and now I'm being asked to have it used for importing qcow2 images -- on which we want to run utilities like virt-sparsify and virt-sysprep, first. Sadly, when I do that, it dies horribly, e.g., root@openstack-cli:/tmp# virt-sysprep -a cloud-image.qcow2 Examining the guest ... libguestfs: warning:

Preparatory work on virt-v2v -o openstack mode
(Apologies if I missed anyone off the To: line. Please add anyone else who is interested, but keep the libguestfs public mailing list) I did some preparatory work on adding the new ‘virt-v2v -o openstack’ output mode. I've put it in a private (non-FFwd) branch here: https://github.com/rwmjones/libguestfs/tree/openstack Most of the work was refactoring virt-v2v so that we have all of the

[p2v PATCH 00/11] Expose virt-v2v's "-oo"; re-enable openstack
Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1792141 Let the user pass "-oo" options from the kernel cmdline and from the GUI to virt-v2v. This is primarily useful with the OpenStack output mode, so reenable that mode. OpenStack output - server_id
Hi, I've read the virt-v2v OpenStack output code to understand how it works and I've seen this: > (* The server name or UUID of the conversion appliance where > * virt-v2v is currently running. OpenStack output workflow
Hi, There has been discussion about the OpenStack output and Richard asked for a public thread on this list, so here it is. For v2v from VMware to RHV, there is a Python script that does some extra steps to create the virtual machine after the disks have been converted. We want to have the same behavior for OpenStack, i.e. have virt-v2v create the instance once the volumes have been created.

[help] failed to launch guestfs in different Openstack environment
Hello guys, This is Phoenix from Dell and we now have one strange issue related to launch guestfs in Openstack environment. In Openstack of our lab, guestfs can be launched successfully within one SLES12 instance. While when our SLES12 instance is deployed in customer's Openstack, we see guestfs cannot be launched. And also the error message is ambiguous :

How to use /dev/mapper in virt-manager/libvirt
Hi, my test host is running Debian/GNU Linux unstable and has virt-manger 0.9.5 and libvirt 1.2.1. I am using encryption and thus have devices in /dev/mapper that are not LVs, for example called /dev/mapper/myvirtualdisk. I'd like to configure libvirt in a way that allows me to directly assign such devices to a VM. This does not work when I create a filesystem directory storage pool in

[PATCH v2 0/2] v2v: Add -o openstack target.
v1 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2018-August/thread.html#00287 v2: - The -oa option now gives an error; apparently Cinder cannot generally control sparse/preallocated behaviour, although certain Cinder backends can. - The -os option maps to Cinder volume type; suggested by Matt Booth. - Add a simple test.
