[PATCH] make-fs: Don't use du --apparent-size to estimate input size.
When calculating the initial size of the disk we must estimate
how much space is taken by the input. This is quite difficult.
For directories we used ‘du --apparent-size -bs DIR’. This is wrong
because ’-b’ implies ‘--apparent-size --block-size=1’. But also
‘--apparent-size’ causes du to count the file size rather than number
of blocks used by files.
If you have a directory containing many

[PATCH v2 0/2] lib: qemu: Memoize qemu feature detection.
v1 -> v2:
- Rebase on top of Pino's version work.
Two patches went upstream, these are the two remaining patches.
Note the generation number is still inside the qemu.stat file. We
could put it in the filename, I have no particular preference.

[PATCH 0/4] lib: qemu: Memoize qemu feature detection.
Doing qemu feature detection in the direct backend takes ~100ms
because we need to run `qemu -help' and `qemu -devices ?', and each of
those interacts with glibc's very slow link loader.
Fixing the link loader is really hard. Instead memoize the
output of those two commands.
This patch series first separates all the code dealing with qemu into
a separate module (src/qemu.c) and

[PATCH 2/2] Fix handling of passwords in URLs
So far, passwords in URLs (eg http://user:password@host..) have been
handled as part of the username, and thus passing
add-drive path username:username:password ...
instead of
add-drive path username:username secret:password ...
Fix the parsing of URLs to handle passwords as separate elements,
properly passing it as "secret" parameter for add-drive, and properly
readd it when

[PATCH 0/3] Use gnulib's getprogname
Hi,
this series update libguestfs to a recent gnulib version, so that we
can use its new getprogname module, and solve altogether one of the
porting issues (the need for 'program_name' by the error module of
gnulib), and have a single way to get the name of the current program.
A number of changes in tools mostly, although mechanical.
Thanks,
Pino Toscano (3):

[PATCH INCOMPLETE] Rewrite virt-make-fs in C (originally Perl).
I thought it would be easy to rewrite virt-make-fs in C.
Two days later ...
The Perl program uses a lot of external commands, which makes
it pretty tedious to implement in C.
Rich.

RFC: Handle query strings for http and https (RHBZ#1092583)
Parse the query string from URLs, and pass it as new add_drive optarg;
use it when building the file= URL for qemu.
Accept query string only for http and https protocols, for now.
---
Possibly it looks like an ad-hoc solution for http(s), although I'm not
sure how it could possibly be generalized somehow (maybe "extra params"
which would be the query string for http(s)?).

[PATCH 0/2] Don't use snapshot=on
QEMU upstream has broken snapshot=on ... again.
These two patches stop using it entirely. Instead we run
'qemu-img create' to create overlay disks as required.
Note that the libvirt and UML backends were already doing this: The
libvirt backend because <transient/> has never worked, and the UML
backend was running uml_mkcow because the UML-equivalent syntax of
snapshot=on was

[PATCH] lib: qemu: help GCC 8 by break'ing a case in a switch
GCC 8 thinks that the case drive_protocol_gluster may fall through, most
probably because the only code is a switch case that handles the
elements of an enum, and thus letting other fall through. In reality
this ought to not happen at all, so help GCC by break'ing the case,
which will then lead to the abort() at the end of
guestfs_int_drive_source_qemu_param.

Re: URI Handling Patch
Hi All,
Here's the latest patch. I think this should address the problem. The
query string is now only appended to the end of a URI in the HTTP and HTTPS
cases.
The add-uri test now passes, and 'make check' still passes.

[PATCH 0/2] Change guestfs__*
libguestfs has used double and triple underscores in identifiers.
These aren't valid for global names in C++.
These large but completely mechanical patches change the illegal
identifiers to legal ones.

[PATCH 1/2] launch: direct: manually compose iscsi:// URIs
Move the creation of iscsi URIs away from make_uri, composing them
manually: this is needed because libxml assumes colons (':') to separate
user and password for the authority part, while with iscsi URIs the
separator is percentage ('%'), which would be percent-encoded by libxml.

[PATCH mesa 0/3] tgsi and nouveau global / local / opencl-input mem support
Hi,
Here are patches which implement the support for OpenCL kernel input
parameters we discussed. They also add the tgsi parsing bits for
adding support for global / local mem, but no implementation yet.

[PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
This refactors existing code to close file descriptors in the recovery
process, and also adds code to close file descriptors between the
fork() and exec() of QEMU or User-Mode Linux.
The reason is to avoid leaking main process file descriptors where the
main process (or other libraries in the main process) are not setting
O_CLOEXEC at all or not setting it atomically. Python is a particular
