Some fixes for building the Debian package for 1.20.2
I needed to add a few patches to be able to build libguestfs 1.20.2
out of tree. Mostly srcdir/builddir issues -- I think that I had
posted something for building the daemon before.
As mentioned on IRC, I found that compiling (Ruby bindings) caused
config.h file shipped with the Ruby headers to be included rather than
${builddir}/config.h. This can be fixed because the relevant checks

ANNOUNCE: libguestfs 1.28 released
I'm pleased to announce libguestfs 1.28, a library and set of tools
for accessing and modifying virtual machine disk images.
This release took 7 months of work by a considerable number of people,
and has many new features (see release notes below), including new
'virt-v2v' and 'virt-p2v' tools for importing guests from foreign
hypervisors to KVM, and 'virt-log' which

Hello,
I am trying to use virt-resize. It does not work. I set the debug environment variables and ran libguestfs-test-tool. The following is its output. I am running RHEL 6.5 desktop with kernel:

Re: Finding the run script to execute virt-sysprep or other commands
Hi ,
I have installed the libguestfs-1.35.19 after running ./configure
it says
configure: error: supermin >= 5.1 must be installed, your version is
too old
but ubuntu14.04 trusty has the latest version as 4.1.6-1 as
given here https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/supermin
The configure as a result was not successful and the run file not
generated yet.

RFE: reuse of the libguestfs daemon + host API in a externally managed VM
The libvirt-TCK is a integration test suite we are using to validate the
correct operation of libvirt drivers. Currently it is just checking the
basic operation & functionality of drivers from the host side. we just
boot a random Fedora kernel + initrd since we don't actually care that
the guest OS boots into any particular state, we only care that its
running in some form.
We would

Plan for libguestfs 1.26
It has been 3 months since the last stable release of libguestfs.
I'd like to plan a new 1.26 release towards the middle/end of next month.
There are some virt-builder features I'd like to get in before then:
- virt-builder needs to be able to use Linux distro published cloud
images as a source (without requiring a lot of manual config as
now)
- virt-builder must be able to

Errors Running on Ubuntu 13.10
I'm trying to use virt-sysprep on an Ubuntu 13.10 vm running on OpenStack.
I've followed the command "gotchas" from the FAQ and still not had any luck.

Re: Issue with libguestfs-test-tool on a guest hosted on VMWare ESXi
Thanks. Reading the defect and the associated thread in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1661386, I enabled performance
counters in VMWare guest settings. Now the kvm assertion `ret ==
cpu->kvm_msr_buf->nmsrs' is gone. But the qemu/kvm hangs after printing
"SeaBIOS (version 1.10.2-1)"
I presume this too is a qemu/kvm issue for vmware platforms. Is there any

Problem with virt-sysprep
Hi there,
I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I'm having with
virt-sysprep. It's a recurrent problem running virt-sysprep:

See http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-faq.1.html#debugging-libguestfs

So I ran virt-sysprep and

Hi,
*1. What are you trying to do?*
I was trying to clean up a virtual machine image in place. I followed the

*2. What exact command(s) did you run?*
virt-sysprep -d trusty
*3. What was the precise error or output of these commands?*

[PATCH 0/9] Adaptations to Weblate
We are migrating to Weblate (the Fedora instance, in particular) for
translations instead of Zanata. Adapt our tooling a bit to the different
workflow:
- Weblate takes care of updating the po files whenever a new translation
catalog is available, so stop doing that on our own: this meant also
tweaking the po4a usage for POD documentations, resulting in simpler
rules (IMHO)
- ensure that the

Use virt-* tools from within container?
Hi, all. I've set up an LXC container for various Openstack admin
chores, and now I'm being asked to have it used for importing qcow2
images -- on which we want to run utilities like virt-sparsify and
virt-sysprep, first. Sadly, when I do that, it dies horribly, e.g.,
root@openstack-cli:/tmp# virt-sysprep -a cloud-image.qcow2

I have downloaded the tar file of libguestfs. There is a run.in

Please find the checklist below:
1. What are you trying to achieve?
I'm trying to build a standard Ubuntu 14.04 disk image.
2. What exact commands did you run?
I ran "virt-builder ubuntu-14.04"
3. What was the precise error/output of these commands?
The process gets stuck indefinitely at
