[PATCH pkg-libvirt/libguestfs] Split off ZFS support from libguestfs0.
Hilko,
This is an experimental patch showing how to split libguestfs into
subpackages, so the main libguestfs0 doesn't depend on everything.
Splitting packages only works for packages which are in the appliance
(ie. in appliance/packagelist or supermin.d/packages).
In this patch, only zfs-fuse [which previously caused trouble for
users: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1053911] has been

supermin and dpkg-divert
While trying to run libguestfs tests after building with
"--enable-appliance --with-supermin-extra-options=--use-installed", I
ran into a peculiar error message in the c-api test:

guestfsd: error while loading shared libraries in SUSE12
Hi guys,
I've struggled in this error for 1 week and your help is really appreciated. As one EMC software engineer, I need to setup the libguestfs tool in SUSE12 ( SUSE11SP4 is also OK, while SUSE12 is preferred ) to mount some qcow2 image from openstack environment. Then we can read its file system architecture and restore some files.

Adventures in building libguestfs on non-x86 architectures for Debian
Hi,
things are progressing slowly, but I feel that eventually I'll be
getting there: supermin can be built on all Linux-based architectures
that are part of Debian/unstable[1] -- (except for sparc, but I'll
ignore that for now.) libguestfs on the other hand currently fails
launching the appliance (necessary for running tests) on everything but
x86 and mips.
Apparently, qemu-system-arm

building a supermin appliance with febootstrap...
Rich,
So, I tried to build the simple supermin app. from your blog. I can confirm that I did get
to the shell when I invoked qemu-kvm.
I used the standard qemu-kvm cmdline (but appended a serial console). This boots fine.

Problem Connecting to RBD images using Sys::Guestfs Perl Module
Hello,
I'm having trouble connecting to rbd images. It seems like somewhere the
name is getting chewed up. I wonder if this is related to my previous
troubles [1] [2] with rbd images.
I'm trying to add an rbd image, but when I launch the guestfs object I get
an error:
>> libguestfs: trace: launch = -1 (error)

ANNOUNCE: libguestfs 1.26 released
I'm pleased to announce libguestfs 1.26, a library and set of tools
for accessing and modifying virtual machine disk images. This release
took more than 6 months of work by a considerable number of people,
and has many new features (see release notes below).
You can get libguestfs 1.26 here:

[PATCH] appliance: move virt-rescue welcome to /etc/issue
To allow easier downstream tweaks to the virt-rescue welcome message,
just output the content of the /etc/issue file in the appliance.
Thus, a new extras.tar.gz file appeared in supermin.d containing
the etc/issue file and future tweaks like this one.

[PATCH] Improve fixed appliance documentation
Move the "FIXED APPLIANCE" section from
libguestfs-make-fixed-appliance(1) to the general guestfs(3), so it's
more visible and less hidden in the documentation of a rarely-used tool.
Expand the FAQ question about libguestfs without supermin, mentioning
the build options needed and pointing to the aforementioned new section.

Re: supermin: error: statvfs: No space left on device: /tmp/.guestfs-0/appliance.d.fnkp4pys/root
Could you run the command below on the same arm host and attach the
output? It'll give us a lot more information about what went wrong:
/usr/bin/supermin --build -v -v -v --copy-kernel -f ext2 --host-cpu armv7hl /usr/lib/guestfs/supermin.d -o /tmp/appliance.d
Thanks,
Rich.

A few easy dpkg optimizations for supermin
I have done some printf profiling and found that supermin's calls to
dpkg for individual packages are quite expensive. Here are some
patches that gather all information on demand where possible.
On my Debian/unstable-based workstation at home, preparing a minimal
appliance using
$ ./supermin --use-installed --prepare bash -o supermin.d
now takes ~3.5s (previously ~15s).
Turning that
