[PATCH 1/2] utils, builder: Add wrappers for posix_fadvise.
Add wrappers around posix_fadvise and use them in places we were calling posix_fadvise directly before. Also in virt-builder we were doing this (and ignoring the result): posix_fadvise (fd, 0, 0, POSIX_FADV_RANDOM|POSIX_FADV_DONTNEED); However the POSIX_FADV_* flags are _not_ bitmasks! In fact POSIX_FADV_RANDOM|POSIX_FADV_DONTNEED == POSIX_FADV_NOREUSE so we were giving a completely

More posix_fadvise stuff.
More posix_fadvise stuff, and document what Linux really does with these calls. Also fixes a nasty bug in virt-builder. Rich.

[PATCH v2 0/2] daemon: Move the useful 'is_zero' function into common code.
v1 -> v2: The first patch is the same (the pure refactoring), but in the second patch I implement Eric Blake's suggested version. Rich.

[PATCH] daemon: Move the useful 'is_zero' function into common code.
This is largely a simple refactoring, but it combines another definition of this function from virt-builder which had a slightly different prototype. --- builder/pxzcat-c.c | 20 +------------------- daemon/daemon.h | 18 ------------------ lib/guestfs-internal-all.h | 18 ++++++++++++++++++ 3 files changed, 19 insertions(+), 37 deletions(-) diff --git a/builder/pxzcat-c.c

Segmentation faults on SEXP conversion
Hello - I am making a first attempt at writing a simple C++ routine to print out R objects (this is a simple proof-of-concept as part of a larger package development). The relevant C++ routine is as follows: void Rwrite(SEXP fd, SEXP msg) { int *ofd = INTEGER(fd); const char * omsg = CHAR(asChar(msg)); printf("[%i] %s",*ofd,omsg); } And the corresponding interface in R is as

scp: Problem when source and destination are identical
If the source and destination file are identical, the receiving scp truncates the file. On the sending end, read() returns 0, and garbage is sent instead of actual data, and the receiving end puts it into the file, which at least confuses the users. -- Florian Weimer Florian.Weimer at RUS.Uni-Stuttgart.DE University of Stuttgart http://cert.uni-stuttgart.de/
