[PATCH 3/4] Add SUSE converter
The SUSE converter itself, based on the RedHat converter. This supports
converting SLES 10/11 and openSUSE 10/11/12/13.

Re: [PATCH 3/4] Add SUSE converter
Mike,
This is great. I have a couple of minor comments inline, but this looks
good.
I do have a major concern, though, which is this is basically a fork of
RedHat.pm. There are well over 1,000 identical lines of code between the
2 modules. Many of the differences are relatively minor, and could be
handled with additional cases. I've also fixed a couple of bits in
RedHat.pm since you forked

Other than the concern about being a little too obsessed about the 79
character line length. ;) This version of the patch has all the unecessary
cleanup removed, and only

Re: [PATCH 3/4] Add SUSE converter
Matt,
Thanks for the extensive comments. I'll go through them in detail, but it
won't be until next week. For the time being, here's a quick take on some of
the main issues:

[PATCH 1/7] Push $desc creation into Sys::VirtConvert::Converter->convert
This change is part of an ongoing effort to remove use of $desc and inspect the
OS directly as required during conversion.

[PATCH] virt-v2v: Add use augeas_error to GrubLegacy, plus typo fixup
The following patch adds augeas_error to the Sys::VirtConvert::Util use
statement for GrubLegacy (matching what is used in the Grub2 package).
This is required to prevent an undefined subroutine error for the
augeas_error call in list_kernels().
There are also a few minor typo fixups:
- A message string in _configure_kernel was missing the $ before a variable
- In _install_capability, the

This approach looks great. I think there are a couple of bits to look at
(see below), but probably not much.

[PATCH 0/4] Add SUSE guest converter to virt-v2v
This is a new conversion module to convert SUSE Linux and openSUSE guests.
The converter is based on the RedHat module, and should offer the same
functionality on both SUSE and RedHat hosts.
There are a few additional messages in this module, such as reporting of
packages when installing through zypper or the local virt-v2v repo. These
messages don't necessarily flow unless verbose switches

[PATCH 0/4] virt-v2v: Convert RedHat.pm to Linux.pm
In preparation for an upcoming patch which adds support for SUSE guest
conversions, it makes sense to have an intermediate steps that changes the
RedHat.pm converter into a more generic Linux converter. The SUSE changes
will then be limited in scope to only what is required for SUSE support.
This series of patches accomplishes the following:
- Renames RedHat.pm to Linux.pm
- Modifies Linux.pm

[PATCH] Use RHN to retrieve replacement packages
For guests registered with Red Hat Network, this patch allows for
the conversion process to use RHN to download appropriate kernel
package and its dependencies.
We use yum on RHEL-5, up2date libraries on RHEL-4.
We install matching kernel version whenever possible, latest available
kernel version otherwise.
_discover_kernel routine has been extended to return version-release
of the default

[PATCH] virt-v2v: Add verbose message logging
As a followup to the discussion on verbose logging for virt-v2v, this patch
adds basic verbose messages in the main virt-v2v code. As Matt pointed out,
the usefulness of these messages is limited as the time spent outside of data
copying is trivial. However, when converting smaller guests, these messages
can act as progress markers and show where time is being spent. (As I already
added this code

[PATCH] Fix detection of an existing grub entry
There were 2 issues in the code which checked for an existing grub entry before
adding a new one.
Firstly, it didn't take account of the fact that the passed-in kernel path is
relative to root, whereas the grub entry is relative to the grub filesystem,
which is normally /boot.
Secondly, it expected return from inside eval{} to exit the function, when in
fact it only exits the eval.

[PATCH] Workaround issue where grubby fails when run under libguestfs
When installing kernel-2.6.18-128.el5 in a guest with
kernel-xen-2.6.18-164.el5xen already installed, and 'root=LABEL=/' on the kernel
command line, grubby fails to install a grub entry for the new kernel. It only
fails when run under libguestfs. Installing in the original Xen guest works
fine. The underlying cause appears to be related to blkid, although I haven't
managed to pin it

[PATCH] virt-v2v: Default to non-virtio drivers if driver path is missing
During a Windows conversion, _prepare_virtio_drivers aborts the conversion
completely if the configured virtio driver path does not exist. If the path
exists but is empty, the conversion completes correctly by defaulting to the
non-virtio drivers. This patch treats a missing directory just like missing
drivers, by reporting a message, then defaulting to non-virtio drivers.

virt-v2v should add kernel console= to Xen->KVM converted guest's grub.conf
I'm using virt-v2v (0.8.3 currently) on EL6 to convert Xen guests to
KVM. I see how virt-v2v converts any existing references to xvc0 and
hvc0 serial console devices in /etc/inittab, /etc/securetty, and
grub.conf. However, my Xen DomU grub.conf's don't have any mention of
console= on the kernel lines, because the Xen DomU kernel defaults to
using the correct xvc0 console. As a

[PATCH] List all missing dependencies at once
When a conversion requires a file from the config file which isn't present, we
currently die and report which file was missing. If there are many missing
dependencies, using this method to find them all would take multiple runs.
This change attempts to find all missing dependencies in the first run.

[PATCH] virt-v2v: Catch invalid initrd path
In some cases (specifically, SUSE grub2 environments) it is possible to
fail to update the block entries in device.map. In turn, this causes an
invalid path to be returned in perl-Bootloader code, which causes the
conversion to fail with the following message:
is_file_opts: is_file: is_file_stub: path must start with a / character
This patch prevents the problem by adding device.map (for
