Re: Double fault panic in L2 upon v2v conversion
Thanks Richard for a fast reply. Yes, indeed, im working on a nested environment. I try to run v2v inside a VM (L1) and to create an L2 by the conversion process. And on Intel. As I wrote, it fails once in few times, mainly when there is a memory pressure on L0. Kashyap, can you please share your experience? Why should it crash during nested conversion. I'm not too familiar with libguestfs

[PATCH 0/2] supermin: use /etc/os-release
Hi, let's make supermin use /etc/os-release as primary source instead of the various release files in /etc; apparently distros (e.g. openSUSE) are starting removing them. Thanks, Pino Toscano (2): Add simple handling of /etc/os-release Use os-release to detect the distro src/Makefile.am | 3 +++ src/dpkg.ml | 3 ++- src/os_release.ml | 78

Double fault panic in L2 upon v2v conversion
Hi everybody, Wanted to hear your opinion and to receive a smart advice. I'm trying to use virt-v2v in order to convert ova image (exported from vcenter) to run on libvirt/kvm - all this inside a VM of fedora. The converted image is also a fedora. During the conversion process, in some point of libguestfs activity, I get double fault panic from L2 (printed as part of libguest output) and the

[supermin PATCH v2 0/4] Check for output results for --if-newer (RHBZ#1813809)
This is an attempt to make supermin check for the existing results of an output when checking whether the appliance must be rebuilt using --if-newer. At the moment it is implemented only for the ext2 output format of the build mode. Changes from v1: - drop empty stub for the prepare mode - add patch to ignore --if-newer on modes different than build - squash patch with stub for the build mode

supermin in Fedora Rawhide switched (again) to using dnf instead of yum
Previous attempt: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2015-April/msg00013.html supermin needs to download packages (eg. RPMs) when preparing the appliance. After a lot of work, 'dnf download' can now be used as a replacement for the (deprecated) 'yumdownloader' program. This only affects the 'supermin --prepare' phase, which means it only affects people building

[supermin PATCH] rpm: check for SQLite-based RPM DB
Fedora 33 switched the DB of RPM to SQLite, so no more Packages/Name/etc files. Because any missing file exception is ignored when checking for --if-newer, the lack of the Package files was not properly noticed, so the appliance was always considered out out date. Check for the SQLite-based DB first, falling back to the old format. Signed-off-by: Pino Toscano <ptoscano@redhat.com> ---

building a supermin appliance with febootstrap...
Rich, So, I tried to build the simple supermin app. from your blog. I can confirm that I did get to the shell when I invoked qemu-kvm. I used the standard qemu-kvm cmdline (but appended a serial console). This boots fine. ######################################################## [root at moon appliance-test]# qemu-kvm -kernel kernel -append "console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200" -initrd

[PATCH supermin 0/5] Make supermin mini-initrd quieter and faster.
Various patches to make supermin quieter. By outputting fewer messages on the fast path, we use the slow emulated UART less, and this improves boot times. Also remove some kernel modules that we cannot or should not be using, which also improves boot times. Rich.

[PATCH supermin 0/9] kernel: Multiple fixes to handling of kernels (RHBZ#1477758).
This patch series fixes several problems in the way that supermin handles kernels. The most pressing problem is that supermin doesn't handle bogus vmlinuz files which aren't actual kernels. Along the way there is a lot of clean up. The patches look much better if you view them with ‘-w’. This series will require plenty of time to be tested in Fedora, especially on non-x86 arches.
