yum can't connect to mirrors
Hello, I added rpmforge yum repo to my yum config and then the box couldn't connect to fetch updates. I added enabled=0 to rpmforge.repo as well as add-ons, contrib, and centosplus, but i'm still getting mirror errors. I believe i've got some file corruption somewhere, but i don't see where. I can't even fetch packages in updates now, keep getting connection refused

Offline YUM repository setup working but yum with --installroot fails
I use a local, off-line repository for CentOS plus updates for my development network (my setup for many years). By design, the repository has no physical connection to the Internet. Everything seems to be setup correctly and works fine for installs/updates. However I am trying to use the --installroot option for YUM and it is complaining about not finding a mirror. I removed the lines about

Centos 5.2 upgrade - urlopen error unknown url type: media
My first notebook upgrade: I repaired my old HP nc4010 (bought a new hinge on ebay) and realized this was the perfect way to test out the upgrade to 5.2 before doing it on my production notebook. First I updated to 'current' 5.1 (by current I mean I have not synced my 5.1 local repo since building my 5.2 repo). I had not used my nc4010 for a while and the kernel was at

Updated mirrorlist for 4.9 in vault?
I have just tried to update to 4.9 a system that was installed from a 4.8 local repo. Because 4.9 has been moved to vault, as described by Johnny in http://www.linux-archive.org/centos/638644-centos4-rhel4-upstream-effective-eol.html, the mirrorlist file basically contains invalid information. http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=4.9&arch=i386&repo=os To avoid the faff of having to edit

Problems with some rpms in my local repo
This is perplexing. on a Centos 5.1 box that I am trying to upgrade, I keep getting: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error unknown url type: media> from my local repo.
