Wine Install and Uninstall Problems
Greetings all.
I have been running Wine under Kubuntu Feisty for about the last four months,
keeping it updated with the latest wine releases on a weekly basis, I use it
to run WordPerfect.
Whilst WordPerfect didn't run flawlessly, I got it to work well enough to edit
and save documents I work on at home. In four months none of the updates to
Wine changed anything in how WordPerfect

Might and Magic - Doesn't read CD Drive
I'm on a dell inspiron 6000 laptop with Ubuntu 7.10 and WINE .9.46 installed. I installed the Might and Magic Millennium Edition (Might and Magic 4-7), and am having problems playing the games. When I try to run the games, it asks for the CD, even though the cd is in the drive.
When I go to the Wine Configuration and the drives tab, there is no D drive listed. So I hit 'Autodetect'

expanding wine desktop
Wine is installed in Ubuntu Gutsy. It shows up on desktop when called from
terminal. However it is only about 3 inches wide on 17 inch display. Cannot
get it to expand. Have tried all display modes on this machine. Does not help.
I can see when clicking on a tab, something happens but cannot tell the name
of the tab nor what it displays after clicking on it. Does anyone know how to
correct

Anyone have experience getting Poser 7 to work?
Hi,
I just installed the latest wine and got all kinds of software to work on my box, which is really cool!
I'm having trouble with Poser 7, though. I've successfully installed it, and can mostly run it, but it seems like a lot of the windows within tend to disappear mysteriously when clicking outside of them. They come back if you click the right widget, but I find it highly intrusive,

Baldur's gate II installing problem...
Hi all,
I'm using wine 9.57 in ubuntu gutsy, I'm trying to install BGII but
the installshield, when reaches about 78%, asks me for the cd2: I give
the directory path and immediately it asks for cd 3,4,5. Naturally i
can't provide cd 5 because BGII is a 4cds game. I've tried to upgrade
installshield with no result. I've also tried to eject (wine eject)
the directory with cd1 but

youtube.com complains about old version on 64 bit ubuntu gutsy
I read on lwn.net that swfdec has support for watching youtube.com
videos. Good work! I have not been able to get the Adobe 32-bit mozilla
plugin working under 64-bit gutsy so I figured I'd give swfdec a go.
A quick search of the archives and bugzilla turns up nothing obviously
similar to my problem.

OSX Wine and USB Drivers
I feel like a big fat noob. I know that autodetect from device isnt supported yet (says so on the selection box, under the drives tab of winecfg) but I was curious if I could get some help.
I have a couple different USB devices, a Ralink based wifi adaptor and a motorola V3 phone. There are drivers for both that I have, and work nativly on windows.
On native windows, autodetect devices takes

Odd display problem for 0.9.59/60
I came across a problem after updating to 0.9.59 and it appears to have continued to 0.9.60.
I started with gutsy, ATI 9600 with the fglrx drivers, direct rendering working as with the games i wanted (CNC3, Champ Man...) in 0.9.58 however on upgrading to .9.59 software installs and winecfg both display properly, However on running the games i get a fuzzy display a bit like a tv half tuned in to

R Compilation error on Ubuntu
Hi
I bought a new laptop HP dv9500 just a week ago and installed a Ubuntu
gutsy ribbon on this laptop. I wanted to install Fedora but there are
more threads on Ubuntu, so I decided to install Ubuntu. After hours of
struggle in configuring x server/graphic card stuff, I installed R for
Gutsy ribbon using "sudo apt-get install g77 r-core'.
Now when I tried to install 'sp' package

Configure not working in ubuntu gutsy amd64
I recently upgraded to the Gutsy beta, and this may just be a side effect of it being beta, but thought I'd raise it here in case I am doing something obviously wrong. I'm not familiar with how the configure script works and looking at the config.log didn't help me.
Just to note, I was successfully compiling on ubuntu amd64 before I upgraded to the gutsy beta.
I have raised a bug

memory leak bug under ubuntu gutsy w/ nvidia
hi there,
a number of users of ubuntu gutsy with nvidia cards are experiencing a
serious memory leak under compiz. This leak essentially renders compiz
unusable for us. Gutsy ships with a compiz versioned at 0.6.0
+git20071008 , which I imagine isn't that different from the current
compiz, and with the current 100.14.19 nvidia driver running under a
2.6.22 kernel. I'm just wondering

Or even better, does anyone have a recipe for building on Gutsy?

Error after upgrading kubuntu
Hi there,
I recently upgraded my kubuntu system to 8.04.1 (Hardy Heron), and one of the my data collection software under wine gives me this error every time I run it.

[LLVMdev] New llvm-gcc bootstrap failure
I get the error below (and have for a couple weeks now) when trying to
build llvm-gcc on Ubuntu Feisty. In the meantime, on Ubuntu Gutsy,
everything has been building fine. Both are release builds for x86.

Ubuntu and sources.list question about mirror sites...
Evening all:
Thought I'd announce myself with a question about setting up
sources.list to be able to begin download and install of R.
Running version 7.10 of Ubuntu. (Tried 8.04 but found it slow and
finicky with my hardware. Perhaps will try 8.10 or above, but that's a
thought for another time.)
Followed the notes on the R site and added the following lines to my
sources.list:
