Roo gem performance problems
I am getting unacceptable performace problems by using the roo gem for
reading a file by using XLSX or XLS library from this gem.
Someone may suggest me an alternative about how to parse an .XLSX file?

Unexpected parameter problem using rsaga.geoprocessor() {RSAGA}
Hello,
I discovered SAGA, an interesting free GIS, a few days ago and now, I
would like to use it from within R 2.6.2 using the RSAGA package. I read
the documentation for this package and thought that I understood it
correctly for trying to call some of the SAGA modules. For getting the
information on the usage of and arguments required by the SAGA command

[threadsafe] Arel ToSql visitor is not threadsafe
Hey,
We hit a bug today because Arel::Visitors::ToSql is not threadsafe.
Here is what is happening:
Arel::Visitors::ENGINE_VISITORS is a cache of visitors instances.
These instances are not inherently threadsafe because it contains
state ''@last_column'', ''@connection'' that is shared between threads.
The other variables ''@pool'',

Looking for a special date function in R
Hello, everyone
I wonder if R has something similar to Excel function
EDATE(start_date; months) which returns a serial number of the date
that is the indicated number of months before of after the start date.
Example (the second column EDATE(first_column; -6)):
01.01.1999 01.07.1998
02.02.1999 02.08.1998
06.03.1999 06.09.1998

[PATCH] builder: better handle some index parsing errors
Add a new lexer token, unused in the grammar, for the unknown lines in
index files; this should allow to better handle such kind of parsing
errors, removing the need to exit() directly (and leave things in an
unclean state).

[PATCH 1/3] builder: make the C index parser reentrant
Switch the lex/yacc parser into reentrant mode, to ease the handling of
parsing-specific data; introduce a new parser_context struct for that,
which is added as extra data to the parser.
This should cause no behaviour changes in the parsing, just no more
global variables used for getting data in/out the parser.

Missing files in directory listings
Hi
A customer of mine has a strange problem with samba 2.2.8a
They have a number of directories with 600 - 800 files in each
directory.
When new files are added to the directories, and they do a directory
listing on their PC's ( Win 2000 pro SP2 and SP3 ), the last 10 files
are not shown. THis happens both when using "explorer" or doing a `dir`
in an command prom window.

Dear Kornad,
I think I have started to understand what you try to achieve. The problem is to fit a NLE and compute the parameters of the NL-Eq. I have included the R Help-list back in the loop, as I am not an expert in optimization.

to a linux server. However, would developers please add one
feature:
When rsync runs on an OS X machine and the source files are
in hfs+ (or hfs) filesystem, copy the resources fork to a
file with filename starts with a dot and append the original
filename. That's the current behaviour of samba client on
OS X interacting with

Question about lme and AR(1)
Dear R users,
As far as I know, EM algorithm can be only applied to estimate parameter from a regular exponential family.
A multivariate normal distribution with an AR(1) matrix as covariance matrix does not belong to a regular exponential family, it is belong to a curved exponential family, so EM algorithm can not be applied to estimate parameters for this kind of distribution.
I have used
