[RFC] kvmtool: add support for modern virtio-pci
This is a first go at adding support for the modern (based on the 1.0 virtio spec) virtio-pci implementation. kvmtool makes it simple to add additional transports such as this because of it's layering, so we are able to add it as a 3rd (after legacy virtio-pci and virtio-mmio) transport layer, and still allow users to choose to use either the legacy or the modern implementations (but setting

[PATCH RFC 0/5] virtio_pci: modern driver
Based on Rusty's patches. Coding style and funny jokes are his. Bugs and a star wars reference (should be easy to spot) are mine. Untested, but useful as basis for beginning the qemu work. TODO: = simplify probing: use a common probe function, probe with modern driver first, if that fails - probe with legacy driver. BUGS: ATM legacy driver can win and drive a transitional device

[PATCH v3 00/16] virtio-pci: towards virtio 1.0 guest support
Changes since v2: handling for devices without config space (e.g. rng) reduce # of mappings for VQs These patches seem to work fine on my virtio-1.0 qemu branch. There haven't been any bugs since v2: just minor cleanups and enhancements. QEMU side is still undergoing polishing, but is already testable. Rusty, what do you think? Let's merge these for 3.20? Also - will you be doing that

[PATCH 01/05] fixup! virtio_pci: modern driver
virtio_pci_modern: fix up vendor capability Gerd Hoffmann noticed that we implemented capability layout from an old draft. Unfortunately the code was copied to host as well, so we didn't notice. Luckily we caught this in time. This fixes commit "virtio_pci: modern driver" and should be smashed with it. Reported-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel at redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Michael

[PATCH RFC 3/3] vfio: add virtio pci quirk
Modern virtio pci devices can set VIRTIO_F_IOMMU_PLATFORM to signal they are safe to use with an IOMMU. Without this bit, exposing the device to userspace is unsafe, so probe and fail VFIO initialization unless noiommu is enabled. Signed-off-by: Michael S.
