OOo opening maximized- how?
In Ubuntu 7.04 with KDE, I have problems with OpenOffice.org opening
in an unusual size, with half the application not visible on the
screen. I do not have this problem with other applications. I would
like OpenOffice to open in a maximized state, to prevent this problem.
How does one configure compiz to open OOo in a maximized state? If
it's possible, I would not mind configuring Compiz to

MS Office Smart Tags support is one interesting feature of Asterisk Desktop
Application .
Has someone tried to implement such a feature ?
Was it successfull ? difficult ?
I'm also wondering if OpenOffice smart tag is possible (see
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Writer/Smart_Tags).
Your thoughts ?

Problems with file locking over gnome-vfs (esp. OpenOffice.org)
Hi.
First of all, I will probably post this question several places, at
least here, on the ubuntu forums, and perhaps OpenOffice forums. It is
a problem that I'm not sure if really is samba related, Openoffice
related or perhaps even OS related. As stated in the heading, it's
about file locking, so many apps come into play.
I work at a school where we teachers use mainly Ubuntu Hardy and

Somewhat OT: OpenOffice.org Headless issues as non-root user
Hi,
I've installed recently OpenOffice.org 3.1 on Centos 5.3. I use OOo in
headless mode. I have no problem when running as root, but I'd prefer
run it as non-root user (oooserver user). When I run the script in
debug mode this is the output:
sh -x /tmp/ooo-headless-nonroot start
+ . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions
++ TEXTDOMAIN=initscripts
++ umask 022

FYI CentOS-5, SElinux and OpenOffice-2.3
I have installed OOo 2.3 on CentOS-5. Everything seems to work but I had
to locate the item reproduced below. Since this is a vital modification I
reproduce it here so that it gets a wider audience.
FYI:
OOo 2.3.0 and SELinux: "no suitable windowing system found, exiting."
OpenOffice.org (OOo) 2.3.0 is incompatible with the SELinux technology
activated by default in Fedora 7, Fedora

mime-type change?
I have a recently (last Friday) updated CentOS 4.5 desktop running OOo 2.2
that, since this morning, displays OpenOffice .odt files as
application:x-java-archives and has replaced the open office icon on my
desktop with the java icon for these files. I have looked in both:
/usr/share/mime-info/gnome-vfs.mime
and
/usr/share/mime-info/file-roller.mime
And cannot see any reference to OpenOffice

Bridging R to OpenOffice
Dear members of the R Development Team,
I am looking for people with a deep understanding of R internals to
assist in bridging R to OpenOffice.
While R is a state of the art statistical environment, less experienced
users often find it difficult to work with R. Therefore, I believe that
a bridge between R and a spreadsheet program will make this transition
less painful. I sincerely believe

Exporting R graphs (review)
Hi guys,
Yesterday I posted my first couple of questions (see bottom of this
message) to this forum and I would like to thank you guys for all the
useful feedback I got. I just would like to make some comments:
1. Exporting R graphs as vector graphics:
The best answer came from Thomas Lumley <tlumley at u.washington.edu>
He suggested using the RSvgDevice package. As far as I know SVG

OpenOffice.org 3.1 installation was corrupted-installed again, nothing in Applications/Office menu
I had a corrupted installation of OpenOffice.org 3.1.
When I used "yum remove openoffice.org-core" the response was "package
openoffice.org-core available but not installed", but then, when I
used "yum install openoffice.org-core there was a long list of
Transaction Check Errors. I then removed
openoffice.org3.1-redhat-menus-noarch which was in the errors.

OpenOffice 3.3.0 crashing on CentOS 5.5
The last few releases of OpenOffice have gotten very
unstable on my desktop which is a CentOS 5.5 i386 system.
After multiple crashes when doing embedded simple drawings
in OpenOffice writer (circles and lines with connections), I
started using the versions from Sun then Oracle. I am
now using version 3.3: openooffice.org3-3.3.0-9567. I've
lived with this but with version 3.x it has gotten

RExcel, ROOo and LibreOffice inquiry
Dear all
I'd like to give RExcel a decent spin, mainly to take advantage of
Excel's data management facilities and automatic recalculations.
However I cannot use this Windows-only solution on the platform of my
choice, Linux.
Alternatively I've been considering the cross-platform ROOo, the
OpenOffice equivalent of RExcel, but in this case the problem is that
the only release available

Username are case sensitive.
Hi,
I'm using samba for a while and now, on my linux computer, I need to install
OpenOffice.
OpenOffice is working fine with local account but failed to install with

I've detected that for exemple if my domain is "TEST" and my user is "BOB",
Samba create a home folder /home/bob.
And when I try to install OpenOffie for this user, the installer try to

Sieve "OOO" configuration
I am able to get sieve issuing an "out of office"message correctly.
However, I want to configure it to send an "OOO" message only during
certain dates, say on weekends, or only between certain hours. I can do
that manually; however, was wondering if there is any automatic method
available that could handle this chore.
Thanks!

OOO Game switches to fullscreen although it shouldn't
Hi to all,
I have home built wine 0.9.14 on 32bit Slackware 10.2, kernel 2.6.15.5
running on AMD64.
I recently installed the free game Out Of Order from
http://outoforder.adventuredevelopers.com/
It installed OK with default screen resolution of 640x480. My current
screen resolution is 1600x1200 and I have configured wine to run all of
the applications in a window, even if they want to

openoffice
Since rpm from openoffice.org was not nicely integrate with Centos, what is
the best way to make OO uptodate, can i use (or depend on) package from fedora (it slightly
outdate but not too far from OO release).
Having see the huge spec file (around 3700 lines), building it ourself is
really not fun :(

Openoffice 2.3 on centos 5 issue
I have just install OOo 2.3 on new centos 5 box. However OO keep open registration wizard everytime launched, even though i already select "i do
not want to register".
I've been playing with "$HOME/.openoffice.org2/" but still no luck. This
problem did not happen on FC6, so i guess its not OOo bug.

Performances network samba
Hi all,
I 'm new here.
We have installed OpenOffice in a "network" mode onto a samba share
named \\openoffice\ooo (linux Mandrake9.2)
The performances are slowest (a 10M network)
I was wondering if there is a simple way to optimise performances
beetween a samba share and the win2k clients, a cache or something
similar ?
Thanks for any help.
