[PATCH v3 00/25] virtio: fix spec compliance issues
Rusty, please review this, and consider for this merge window. This fixes the following virtio spec compliance issues: 1. on restore, drivers use device before setting ACKNOWLEDGE and DRIVER bits 2. on probe, drivers aren't prepared to handle config interrupts arriving before probe returns 3. on probe, drivers use device before DRIVER_OK it set Note that 1 is a clear violation of virtio

[PATCH v4 00/25] virtio: fix spec compliance issues
Changes from v4: rename virtio_enable_vqs_early() to virtio_device_ready() Note: Rusty requested we add a BUG_ON in the virtio_ring code. This can be done by a separate patch on top. Good for bisectability in case BUG_ON starts triggering :) Rusty, please review this, and consider for this merge window. This fixes the following virtio spec compliance issues: 1. on restore, drivers use device

[PATCH v6 00/11] virtio: s4 support
Hi, These patches add support for S4 to virtio (pci) and all drivers. For each driver, all vqs are removed before hibernation, and then re-created after restore. Some driver-specific uninit and init work is also done in the freeze and restore functions. All the drivers in testing work fine: * virtio-blk is used for the only disk in the VM, IO works fine before and after. 'dd

[PATCH v4 04/25] virtio: defer config changed notifications
Defer config changed notifications that arrive during probe/scan/freeze/restore. This will allow drivers to set DRIVER_OK earlier, without worrying about racing with config change interrupts. This change will also benefit old hypervisors (before 2009) that send interrupts without checking DRIVER_OK: previously, the callback could race with driver-specific initialization. This will also help

[PATCH RFC] virtio_pci: fix virtio spec compliance on restore
On restore, virtio pci does the following: + set features + init vqs etc - device can be used at this point! + set ACKNOWLEDGE,DRIVER and DRIVER_OK status bits This is in violation of the virtio spec, which requires the following order: - ACKNOWLEDGE - DRIVER - init vqs - DRIVER_OK Cc: stable at vger.kernel.org Cc: Amit Shah <amit.shah at redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Michael S. [RFC PATCH 0/8] virtio: Support for hibernation (S4)
Hello, These patches are an initial attempt at supporting hibernation for virtio drivers. The default configuration of event_index=on doesn't work; i.e. restore from a hibernated image only works if the devices have event_index support turned off. I have not yet dug into this, but is most likely due to some state not being sync'ed. This could be related to the hack that is patch 3.

[PATCH v5 00/11] virtio: s4 support
Hi, These patches add support for S4 to virtio (pci) and all drivers. Michael saw some race in virtio-net module removal which will need a similar fix for the freeze code as well. I'll update the virtio-net patch with that fix once the fix is settled upon and applied. For each driver, all vqs are removed before hibernation, and then re-created after restore. Some driver-specific uninit

[PATCH] virtio: unify config_changed handling
Replace duplicated code in all transports with a single wrapper in virtio.c. The only functional change is in virtio_mmio.c: if a buggy device sends us an interrupt before driver is set, we previously returned IRQ_NONE, now we return IRQ_HANDLED. As this must not happen in practice, this does not look like a big deal. See also commit 3fff0179e33cd7d0a688dab65700c46ad089e934 virtio-pci: do not
