Installing to other than "/" label
I have a system with Fedora installed on the partition with label "/". Can I install CentOS on a new empty partition (/dev/cciss/c0d3p1), or do I need to remove the "/" label on the Fedora partition and change Fedora's fstab to mount by physical partition? I'd like to keep Fedora as a fall-back OS until I have CentOS completely up and working. My Fedora fstab:

NFS filesystem recommendations please (and problems with XFS)
Hello all, I am implementing a new mail server into our environment consisting of three machines - two Dell Opterons that will act as load balanced Postfix servers, and a 1.5TB RAID10 NFS server. All three machines are running CentOS 4.5. Since the NFS is going to be used for only mail, I was kicking around the idea to use XFS. I have CentOS installed on an ext3 partition, and with the

Suggestions for partition
The recent thread on Anaconda and RAID10 made me start to think about how to partition a server I'm about to set up. I have two 146GB SCSI drives on an IBM x3550. It will be used as a build system. As such, there is no critical data on these systems, as the source code will be checked out of our source control system, and the build results are copied to another system. I usually

tg3: eth0: No interrupt was generated using MSI, switching to INTx mode.
Hi, I just installed CentOS 4.4 x86_64 on our new 2 x Dual Core Opteron Server. First the system was unstable, but I after turning of Power-now it runs stable (anyone else experienced this?). However the following line in dmesg puzzles me: tg3: eth0: No interrupt was generated using MSI, switching to INTx mode. Please report this failure to the PCI maintainer and include system chipset

faq-o-matic gone
The rsync faq-o-matic was broken during the recent machine migration. Since there was relatively little useful content and a lot of unanswered or pointless questions, I am going to remove the links to it. If anyone feels like maintaining an FAQ please do so. -- Martin -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: not available Type:

transfer data from one hard drive to another
Hello I have an OS installation and data on a 40 gb drive that I would like to image to a 80 gb drive. I don't care if the resulting partition layout on the new drive is only 40 gb making me lose space. I just want to move everything from the older drive because I think it's failing. I have looked at partimage and mondo rescue as imaging solutions but both deal with partitions. CAn someone
