fonts on centos 4 and 5
I am running centos 4.x and 5 x86_64 and using the script below and the
slider bar at the bottom
I cannot get fonts bigger than 50.
someone else posted a followup and said he has the same issue.
What can be happening here??? xlsfonts shows that bigger fonts are
available.
How can I get bigger fonts???
Note - I had to do a "yum install tk" also...
Thanks,
Jerry

font test does not go higher than 49 - centos 4 x86_64
Below is a small script - ran by "wish -f file.tcl"
When I run this script and move the slider bar at the bottom on centos 4
x86_64 I get increasing font sizes
from 5 to 49. Anything 50 and after is all the same size.
How do I get bigger fonts?
THanks,
Jerry

Windows, OSX and Linux: updating a graphic device and double buffering
Hello there,
I'm struggling with the base graphics system on different
operating systems.
I would like to get an animation effect by re-plotting with the plot
function. See the attached code example: move the slider
quick from one side to the other.
I experience different levels of success, depending on which OS I use.

tcltk, X11 protocol error: Bug?
Hi,
I am having trouble debugging this one. The code is attached below, but
it seems to be a problem at the
C-tk interface. If I run this 1 time there are no problems if I run it
more than once I start to get warnings
that increase in multiples of 11 everytime I run it. Here is a sample

X11 font at size 6 could not be loaded
I recently upgraded my OS to Fedora 8 from Red Hat Enterprise Work Station 3.
Before I upgraded certain operations would produce a warning to the effect that
a desired font was not available so one had been substituted, which was okay.
After the upgrade to Fedora 8, the plotting operation halts midway through and I
get the following error message:

set tkscale by tkentry
Hi, I am working under Windows and I am using R2.11
I want to use tkscale in my GUI. As the interval is quite big, I can't set
the scale to a certain specific value. Therefore I want to add tkentry to
allow the user to set tkscale to a certain value.
Here is the code

tt<-tktoplevel()
tkpack(m1<-tkscale(tt,from=306870.00, to=3026741, label="alpha",

animating plots over time with a slider
I have a population of subjects each with a variable which has been captured at a baseline date. Then for many subjects (but not all) an intervention has occurred and the variable has changed at one or more time points after the baseline date. So my dataset consists of a subject ID (x), which may appear several times or just once, a measure (y), and a date of observation (z). I would like to be

window "placement"
Using Thomas Baier's DCOM server I can do the following (in Windows 2000):
I create a slider in Excel, and the sliders On_Change event triggers a
call to R.
This call redraws an R graph, and so I have animated R graphics controlled
by Excel's slider.
The problem is that Excel needs focus so i can grab the slider, and
therefore it partially covers
R's graph window.
Is there a way to

number of items to replace is not a multiple of replacement length
Hey all,
I am writing a function in which I will have a matrix of 4 columns and a
variable amount of rows.
The first to columns will always contain be of the Character type, the third
and fourth columns
can be a variation of data types, usually characters and integers, but
sometimes lists or matrices.
At one point the code makes, for each row, a copy of that row, then it makes
some adjustments
