learning from the audio folks
Besides playing with Asterisk, i'm also using Linux for all kinds of multimedia things, especially recording music, mixing, etc. In order to use Linux as a digital audio workstation, there are a few things that one must do: use low-latency kernels, use pre-emption, use apps that run with real-time privileges, etc. For example, among audio Linux users, the CK (Con Kolivas) and LCK (Locosoft

(I am not sure if this is a bug or a request for a more understandable warning, or possible something obvious I should be posting on r-help.) Vintage Attrition Curves
Hi There - New to the list, so hopefully I don't mess this up too much ... I am hoping maybe some of you can help me. I have a problem I'm trying to solve regarding customer accounts, attrition and forecasting. Basically, here is what I want to do (not sure of the best way): 1. Track accounts by vintage (i.e., the month of the date of sale). 2. Forecast total accounts at a given time

Whither Goest Wine?
It seems that fewer and fewer favorite programs run with wine. Stuff that ran 100% on older builds crashes out on the newer ones with elan. There needs to be (more) regression testing. However, damage has already been done and propagated and needs correction simply to get back to the previous level of operability.

Rsyncing without RSH or SSH ?
Rsh should be pretty easy to do. I don't think it has changed since before RH5.2 vintage. Otherwise, your best bet would be NFS. I think RH5.2 is new enough for NFSv3 but I don't remember for sure. Alternatively maybe you know someone with a newer SCSI controller. I have several PCI ones and even a PCI-X one I haven't used in years. On 03/14/2017 12:30 AM, Philip Rhoades via

TDM400 in aging Dell Optiplex
I've got an old Dell Optiplex (Pentium-II, 1998 Vintage) which is successfully running an X100P card. I'm hoping to upgrade to a TDM400. Has anybody tried running these cards in old Optiplex machines? I'm not particularly worried about horsepower - more about the motherboard having a PCI bus that's able to power up the card... -Ronan
