Linux SYSLINUX vs SYSLINUX.EXE
To all or anyone: I have a very strange problem when using syslinux, and lnx-bbc. Perhaps somebody can provide some insight into Syslinux as it relates to what I'm trying to do. At Peerless, we use LNX-BBC to build a bootable USB thumbdrive. We added a script to init.d in the ram disk to execute one our scripts during LNX-BBC boot from the USB thumb drive. I have seen an apparent

chainboot from grub to syslinux in logical partition
For reasons I won't get into, I need to use grub (not grub4dos, super grub, or any other variant) as multiboot loader on a USB thumb drive, but I also need some of the partitions to contain bootable content from syslinux-based ISOs. All of these syslinux partitions must be logical rather than primary partitions and they will not be the first partition on the drive. Porting the syslinux

Determine from which device syslinux booted from
Unfortunately I can't use GPT partitions because the usb stick are created by non-technical users and lots of them are still using xp 32 bits. Win32DiskImage rulez. :-D Bonus: No more geometry problems on old BIOSes. Just create a nice GPT formatted image with a cool protective MBR. This can even expose the first partition via

Determine from which device syslinux booted from
Renato, I don't think it would take that long to make a little script that even an XP user could use to generate GPT formatted thumb-drives. I believe someone made the Rufus utility for just such an occasion Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way Rufus Create bootable USB drives the easy way Rufus is a utility that

Booting disk images with syslinux?
Is it possable to boot a diskimage with syslinux? So often I run into bios upgrade disks images or can easily create a disk image and would like an easy way to just boot these images. I know isolinux does this and I vagely remember using it to make a bootable windows 95 cd back in the day. It worked to. It would be nice if I could just copy the disk image to a usbstick and use syslinux to boot

Loading syslinux.efi from preloader.efi
Hello everyone, I am trying to prepare a UEFI bootable thumb drive using syslinux and Linux foundations PreLoader.efi. I started the same as as it works with gummiboot-42: * Copy PRELOADER.EFI to EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI * Copy HASHTOOL.EFI to EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI * Copy gummibootx64.efi to EFI/BOOT/LOADER.EFI With just those files PreLoader asks to enroll gummiboot's hash. I do so and

Determine from which device syslinux booted from
The RAW nature of Disk Imager fails to leverage the unique intentions of UUID to surmount the problems of multiple bootable drives in the same system for purposes of knowing which one you actually booted from and should continue to use. Windows Dos testing
Well I'll need to do more experiments first. I need to go out and find fdisk for windows. Ok like I said linux worked great and I think I'll just create a bootable cd to create a usb bootable sticks.(to give to windows users). Here is what I did for testing in windows. I started with zeroing out the flash drive in linux so that I knew I started from ground zero ie: "dd if=/dev/zero

So neither a fork nor a different project ;) . According to the link I had provided:

syslinux PXE boot version upgrade, network no longer working
Hi David, it's a shot in the dark, but it might be worth trying lpxelinux.0 [1] (instead of pxelinux.0) which contains the newer network stack before falling back to older versions of syslinux. Problems with Win32 syslinux
Hi folks, I'm having problems now with the Win32 syslinux in the 2.0.6 release when using it on various CompactFlash drives. These drives end up going into a Geode-based PC board with a built in CF slot. Now, before I run SYSLINUX.EXE on them, they are 32MB with a Toshiba part number showing up when the PC boots. They show up on as the Secondary Master. After I run SYSLINUX.EXE, they stay

isolinux on a pendrive from disk 1
Hi I just grabbed an 8gig thumb drive, took disk 1 centos 4 i386, copied the isolinux directory files to my thumbdrive, then ran syslinux -sf /dev/sdc1 on the device plugged it into my laptop and it does not boot. Is there a step(s) I am missing to get a bootable thumbdrive with centos? Thanks, Jerry
