Uninstall old wine version and install new version
I did a forum search and found 16 pages for uninstalling wine. Only one was semi-helpful. What I got was: > > [Bakshara at Bakshara ~]$ rmdir ~/.wine > rmdir: failed to remove `/home/Bakshara/.wine': Directory not empty > What do I need to do? I want to uninstall wine 1.1.24 and install 1.1.26. I currently only have three apps installed. So any thing I will loose will be easy

Wine and menus
I have a problem with a software called Italian "LaParola (www.laparola.net). The installation is successful, but when I access the program, I do not see the menu, which is transparent. Using Wine 1.3 on Ubuntu 10.10. This is the first time I participate in the forum: I try to post a screenshot but I'm not sure to succeed ...

Wine Install and Uninstall Problems
Greetings all. I have been running Wine under Kubuntu Feisty for about the last four months, keeping it updated with the latest wine releases on a weekly basis, I use it to run WordPerfect. Whilst WordPerfect didn't run flawlessly, I got it to work well enough to edit and save documents I work on at home. In four months none of the updates to Wine changed anything in how WordPerfect

Re: Wine menus - rebuilding, deleting
Thanks for the work you did on this - I needed it to clean out some messy entries in Gnome after moving a $HOME structure to a newer Ubuntu release - the original menu's had their titles messed up in ~/.local/share/applications/ I rewrote your script to use shell constructs instead of 'find'. I've copied it here for others to play with. Code: #!/bin/sh wine="wine"

Cleaning up a WINE install.
I was installing a game, and I made the mistake of agreeing to install DirectX. I'm guessing this can screw up your WINE. Is there any way to clean up my WINE after doing something like that without having to reinstall all my software? Owen Stairs

Wine menus - rebuilding, deleting
Hi I have a few questions about Wine's menu handling: 1. Is there some kind of command that will build a wine menu based on all the files in the standard locations (Start menu and Desktop)? This would be useful for rebuilding the Wine menu after deleting it. (Since deleting the menu entries belonging to a single prefix is not easy) winemenubuilder seem to take only single shortcuts as

WINEPREFIX ?
I have seen posts regarding WINEPREFIX so that Windows programs can be installed elsewhere than in the default .wine/drive_c/... folder. I have 2 or 3 Windows programs in the default folders which I run under Wine, and another program (Serif PagePlus 11) also in the default folder that does not run and I want to uninstall. Wine uninstall does not work for this program. I gather I can uninstall by

I have Single Sign On at my home network - my linux home directories are mounted from my Win2k fileserver. I try to run winecfg and get the below error, obviously because CIFS and NTFS doesn't support symlinks. How do I get wine to run from somewhere else? Generating a properly configured Wine installation
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear Wine users, I am attempting to run Wine inside Sugar, the OLPC GUI environment. I have managed to learn how to run wine from a nonstandard install prefix. I am now trying to generate a correctly customized .wine/ automatically. Serious problems with Wine o__O
Well, my OS is Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, so you can keep track. I used Wine to be able to use Photoshop CS2, but there was a little setback. I reinstalled Wine and Photoshop several times and now even though I install it, it just wont work, nor open any .exe files. Also I don't know why I removed the Wine menu (Applications>Wine) from the tab and no matter what I do, it's not comming

How can I "declutter"/make a biplot less messy in R
I am doing a principle component analysis on a dataset with a lot of different variables and have constructed a biplot of the data. Unfortunately, as can be seen on the attached image, the biplot is very messy, cluttered, and hard to read. I have performed a few modifications including outlier removal from a few of the variables, which has made the plot better, however it still is too cluttered

Wine and Gnome menus...
Hi all, I've spent several days tinkering with Wine and have uncovered what seems to be a mess: Menus in Gnome for Wine applications... I'm running Debian 4.0 (Etch) with a few backports, and Gnome 2.14.3. I've progressed from the version of Wine that's in the Etch repositories, 0.9.25-2.1, through the one in backports, 1.0-rc1-1, to the current 1.1.1 from the WineHQ

Getting old versions of wine?
Hi, i used to play Warcraft 3 on wine very well years ago and recently decided to give it another go, only to find that it won't work with recent versions of wine. I think this is sad beyond words, but its not my project. I come here to ask some guidance in getting an old version of wine. My googling reveals that 0.9.10 is the one i should get. I use Ubuntu 7.10 and i can try to compile from

exporting registry to Wine
Hi, I didn't find any clue in the documentation, so I'm posting my problem here. I'm trying to use wine with a special prefix, whose drive_c/ is containing a whole Windows C: drive. The problem is that I can't launch the binaries, because the wine reg files aren't in sync with the Windows registry. I tried to "reg export" the keys corresponding to system.reg and
