Creating LiveCD with EFI option?
I have been using syslinux-6.x along with isohybrid --mac and --efi option to create a usb hybrid iso with EFI support. The thing with EFI is that you'll need to use grub as your bootloader for EFI but isohybrid does setup the proper partition schema for EFI.
You'll need to use the following to generate an iso that works.
xorriso -as mkisofs -J -R -l -V some-vol-label \
-o ../image.iso

Option to create livecd using new syslinux to support multiple machines.
Wondering what the best process would be to create livecds using
the newer version of syslinux.
Currently my G4L project has just been upgraded to syslinux 5.10
and works fine with regular 32 and 64 bit systems using the 32bit
kernels, but have seen comments about EFI and somethings
about 32bit only working with 32bit and 64bit with 64bit?
Since I average about 1,000 downloads per week, I

isohybrid: slint64-14.1.iso: unable to find mac efi image
HI,
In http://slint.fr/misc/MacBoot/ you'll find all context information. All
files referenced here are stored there.
Long story short: once dd-ed on an USB stick the ISO image can boot on
a BIOS or EFI machine, but I want it to be able to boot on most x86_64
Macs with an EFI firmware.
Unfortunately I get the error message:

This is probably due to El Torito Platform id "Mac" in
-eltorito-alt-boot -no-emul-boot -eltorito-platform Mac \
-eltorito-boot isolinux/macboot.img \
This caused in the image

Creating LiveCD with EFI option? (Michael D. Setzer II)
Michael,
If you actually get virtualbox PXE booting via UEFI, please let us know how.
I spent about two weeks trying to get this to work.
This virtualbox PXE booting via UEFI appears so new, it was
poorly documented. As of two months ago, when I was doing all this testing.
Allegedly, it has experimental support for UEFI PXE boot, if you have Intel
NICs. (It uses the UEFI boot code from the

At least the ISO will then have MBR, GPT and APM entries for the file
macboot.img.
I did that, and also tried the xorriso command you posted.
I uploaded both ISO images on http://slint.fr/misc/MacBoot resp. renamed:

hdt error on syslinux 6.0.4-pre1?
Was seeing it I could get any closer with the efi boot using the 6.0.4, and
didn't have any more luck. Did a test with it in bios mode and it works for the
regular kernels, but when I tried the hdt.c32 I get the following error?
Undef symbol FAIL: parse_url
Failed to load COM32 file hdt.c32
Only find urlparce.c in the PXE directory, and no reference to it in any files in

isohybrid --mac doesn't find the mac efi image
I posted this on the bugzilla page but I figured that on the mailing
list it would get more attention. Please see
http://bugzilla.syslinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49 for a description of my
current issue.

A good opportunity to brag with xorriso's boot inspection
features (since xorriso-1.3.8):
xorriso -indev slint64-14.1-Thomas_mkisofs.iso \

-report_system_area plain

Actually firmware cannot find any UEFI specified booting starting points
in an ISO 9660 filesystem that was created with mkisofs -b and
-hard-disk-boot, but without a boot image which was marked as EFI System
Partition.

Changes to get CD to boot on EFI System.
I've been the maintainer of the G4L project since 2004, and have had great
success using syslinux, but yesterday I ran into a machine that would not
boot from the CD. The system system was a Lenovo L540 notebook, and it
seems to use EFI? Disabled the Secure EFI, but it still would not boot.
Comes up with the syslinux menu and seems to load the kernel, but then it
just stops. Never shows

uefi built from tiancore via edk2 can't persist boot changes
Apologies if this has been gone over, but I believe I have checked the
intertubes more than a bit.....
I am using libvirt and have vms booting under an OVMF.fd to use an efi
firmware. I can create vms, linux ubuntu, and they will boot up. However,
everytime I reboot am I dropped into the default efi shell provide by the
tianocore build.
Then I must walk the FS to the booting efi app and run, in
