In fact, this might allow us to install an automatic 'http' prefix on all subsequent requests, to avoid slow tftp --- or is that a bad idea, and/or is there a way to default all transfers to http without using pxechn and without prefixing

pxechain.com and gpxelinux.0 odd behavior
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here, but I would appreciate a pointer. I have tried to rtfm, but find the docs a little sparse wrt pxechain.comand gpxelinux.0. I am trying to setup a pxe chain server (aka chainloading?) where one of the entries on one pxe server forwards to another (cobbler, in this case). I know this works fine with traditional pxelinux.0 images, but it's

Sysinux 6 will not boot ISOs on BIOS (i.e. pre-UEFI) systems
It occured with every BIOS system I tested on (none of them Dell): 1. HP G62 laptop (i3) 2. Samsung RV520 (i3) Don't know what system Philip Muller uses; have copied him in as he has far more technical knowledge than I do. Syslinux tested from Arch and Manjaro (an Arch derivative). Basically found then when creating latest ISO images. I may be missing something as well about the FMs. Just

gpxelinux 3.70pre7 - keeppxe problem
First let me say I'm really excited about the possibility of dynamic menu creation over http using php. When this is stable it will make maintinging some of our pxelinux infrastructure much easier. Id like to thank all involved; I'm really looking forward to the gpxe intigration. After hpa's announment for 3.70pre7 I begain testing. I dropped the new gpxelinux.0 and new c32 modules

Issue with pxe chainloading and grub2
Hello everyone, I am trying to chainload grub2 using both pxechain.com and pxechn.c32 and in both cases once grub2 loads it fails to find the grub config file on the server. My setup is as follows: 1. DHCP (192.168.1.2) server points to a multi pxe server menu on itself. The entry in the dhcp config file is: *class "installerator-pxeclients" { match if substring (option

SYSLINUX 3.70-pre7: a very special prerelease
I have produced a first cut of integrating gPXE with PXELINUX. This builds, in addition to the usual pxelinux.0, an image called gpxelinux.0 which includes the gPXE network stack. The result is that one can now download images via (almost) any network protocol supported by gPXE, including http. This lets one do fun things like using a CGI or PHP script for the configuration file. SAN

Confusion on lpxelinux vs. gpxelinux vs. ipxe vs gpxe.
Hi All, I've been trying to understand how to use pxechn.c32 to chain a local pxelinux menu item to a remote server which has it's own pxelinux hierarchy served via TFTP and HTTP. We have no control over DHCP next-server and filename fields so I wanted to exploit the "prefix" -p option that pxechn.c32 accepts. I spent a long time hitting my head against a brick wall until I

pxechn.c32: passing options to iPXE
In PXELinux 4.06 (the vanilla version, not gpxelinux.0), I'm trying to use pxechn.c32 to call iPXE (undionly) with option 67 set to call an iPXE script. The relevant portion of my PXELinux config looks like this: LABEL MDT MENU LABEL ^B - MDT 2012 SP1 com32 pxechn.c32 APPEND undionly.kpxe -o 67.s=ipxe/mdt.ipxe However iPXE doesn't seem to get the option correctly, it goes into

Is it possible to chainload isolinux.bin file from syslinux
I have a USB disk with syslinux files installed in /boot/syslinux, and the bootloader is installed into MBR or VBR I then extracted a *.iso file which uses syslinux as the bootloader, into root dir of the disk. The iso file contains a rescue OS or an OS installer. Now I got the directory /isolinux with files isolinux.bin and isolinux.cfg in this folder I can now boot into syslinux, but *what to
