Battlefield 2 & Battlefield 2142 : startup resolution issue
Hi
I am trying to get Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 to launch under Kubuntu 10.04 & Wine 1.3.6. I'm using an Nvidia 8800 GTX 768Mb GPU with Nvidia blob driver 260.19.12.
Anyway launching BF2142 (retail copy, patched to v1.5) gives me the following error (2x) in the console output streams:
Code:

Apps segfaulting, problem with X?
Hello,
I'm having big trouble getting wine to work.
What I basically want to do is get steam to work, now it even fails to launch at all. It updates to 99% and then it segfaults. Other games has done this too (rollercoaster tycoon 2, starcraft 2). I followed the instructions on winehq, removed oriya/samyak fonts and I don't think I've done anything wrong - I've installed steam

Then you need to contact your distro support. There is nothing Wine can do here.

I once had a similar problem with Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2. The game's menu screen is hard coded for 800x600. As I understand it, Wine uses the xrandr extension to change resolutions.

Setting Resolution Modes in xorg.conf
I asked on the Gentoo forums, and surprisingly haven't gotten an answer.
When I run xrandr, I get this output:
Code:

default connected 2960x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm

I'm using TwinView with a 1680x1050 monitor and a 1280x1024 monitor. And I want to set up some different modes in xrandr. When

Game won't go fullscreen
Alright. So I'm trying to play a game in fullscreen mode but it keeps getting forced into a 640x480 box in the corner of my main monitor. I've got a dual-head NVIDIA card (7900GT) hooked up to two monitors via DVI with TwinView and I'm running Ibex 8.10, KDE 4.1.4.
I've run it in the terminal and I get errors referencing XRandR and how it doesn't have 640x480 @60 listed as

Hello R people,
How can I compute the mean of the "Pulse_rate" column of the data frame or
matrix from the following character object called "str_got". It has 14
entries and each entry has 8 values, separated by commas. Please go thru
the following R commands to know how I tried to unstring and unlist the
values to form a data frame.

wine don't handle hard coded resolutions & refresh rates?
I'm trying to play Silent Hunter 3 using 0.9.57. I get my wine from the
wine Ubuntu repository and I use Ubuntu 7.10. Silent Hunter 3 uses a
hard coded resolution and refresh rate of 1024x768x32bit at 50Hz. But I
have an 1680x1050x24bit at 60Hz monitor. I use the nvidia-glx-new version
100.14.19+2.6.22.4-14.10. There is a patch available from the Silent
Hunter 3 page, but it is for source

ks.test
Dear R-List members,
I want to check if a set of measurements follows better a
gamma or a lognormal distribution (see data below).
Using shapiro.test I can test for normality (shapiro.test(log
(Lt)).
To test for gamma (and normal) distribution I would use
ks.test but I need to specify its shape and scale. How should
I calculate these values in R?
I tried

limited resolution on DVI and HDMI at the same time
I got 1920x1200 at 59.95Hz via DVI and 3840x2160 at 60.00Hz via HDMI at the
same time with the proprietary nvidia driver.
I get flickering on the 1920x1200 at 59.95 with the nouveau driver (it
doesn't flicker if I lower it to 1920x1080 at 59.96).
Any idea why?

One screen disabled on login with NVIDIA TwinView
Hi
Is anyone here using NVIDIA display drivers and a TwinView configuration
on their systems? I've got a bit of an issue with such a setup, which
started occurring after a recent driver update: I have a laptop that's
normally connected to an external monitor (a Samsung SyncMaster), where
this monitor and the built-in display on the laptop are set up with a
TwinView configuration. The

WoW + Wine + Twinview = Annoying jumping cursor
Ok, this isn't really a simple thing to describe so I'll state the basic problem first and things I've noticed that are most likely associated with it.
The problem is while playing World of Warcraft on a Twinview activated X-Server, the camera will do random jumps around my character when the mouse is clicked.
Now by 'random' I actually mean a few things:
