c5 + hp dl380 g4 smartarray 6i
will C5.3 support a SmartArray 6i 'out of box', or does it need drivers
to boot from this? I am advising someone else remotely and don't have
the hardware handy to test.

PCI passthrough of cciss HBA
All,
I would like to run the following issue past the list to confirm that my
problem analysis makes sense or whether I missed something:
We have a HP ML370G6 server with VT-x and VT-d enabled in the BIOS. It is
equipped with two Smart Array HBAs - one connected to the HDD array
(SmartArray P800) and one connected to an LTO tape drive (SmartArray
P212). Both controllers use the same driver

chain.c32 question
I'd like to use chain.c32 to allow the computer boot from HARDDISK if
needed.
If I use isolinux and boot from CD, the following works OK:
chain.c32 hd0
But if I boot from USB Flash Key, it sometimes work and sometimes it
doesn't and I have to use
chain.c32 hd1
(it seems BIOS assigns hd0 to the flash key sometimes, so the real
harddisk is hd1 in that case).
Is there any way to tell

chain.c32 question
I am trying to use chain.c32 to boot windows xp from a hard disk. In my
pxelinux.cfg file I have the following:
Prompt 1
Default menu1
Timeout 2
Label menu1
Kernel chain.c32 hd0 1
When my system boots it gives me the following usage error
Usage: chain.c32 (hd|fd)# [partition]
Boot:
If I type chain.c32 hd0 1 at the boot prompt the system boots windows
ok. Any help would be

chain.c32 "Chainboot failed!"
Hi,
I am using syslinux-4.00-pre24, -pre27 and -pre31. chain.c32 fails for pre27 and pre31 for particular configs ... shown below.
1) works on pre24, fails with error message "Chainboot failed!" for pre27 and pre31
LABEL local
MENU DEFAULT
MENU LABEL Local Boot ... (skip PXE boot)
KERNEL chain.c32
APPEND hd0 0
2) works on all three.

Cannot boot after upgrading to Centos 5.1
My local centos mirror (ftp.crc.dk) failed to boot
after having upgraded from centos 5.0 to 5.1 (i386).
It just displays
GRUB
The cursor is positioned to the right of a space after
GRUB, and no input is accepted.
I've tried booting in rescue mode and run:
chroot /mnt/sysimage
grub-install /dev/cciss/c0d0
This completes without errors, but still it can't boot.
It's a HP/Compaq

chain.c32 booting windows off a second disk?
I was seeing if I could use chain.c32 to boot windows
off of a second drive. I'm pretty sure I'm using it
right. Could it be because these are sata drives?
I installed FC5 on a second sata drive I had in my
new machine. Of course Grub didn't work as I wanted so
I decided to try extlinux and if I can get it to work
I might switch to syslinux so that I can edit the boot
info in windows

bad I/O performance with HP Smart Array RAID
Hi all,
I discovered lately that two of my XEN servers suffer from a really
bad disk throughput - in domU as well as in dom0. All of them run
Debian/Etch, Kernel 2.6.18-6-xen (orig. Debian) with XEN 3.2 (backported).
The software versions seem to be ok for most machines:
Lenovo A57 with S-ATA and (E8200, VT enabled): up to 90MB/s
Shuttle, FB61 based, ATA-Disk (Celeron, no VT): up to

Still blocked with chain.c32
Hi again,
I'm still blocked with chain.c32.
Does it allow drive swapping like Grub or not?
If not, how to boot a Windows system that is located on hd1 1 (instead of
regular hd0 1)?
Can't find any clue/doc on chain.c32.
Thanks

chain.c32 does not work (for me?)
Hello!
I am trying to boot from the MBR of my hard disk using PXELinux.
here is the (relevant) part of my pxelinux.cfg/default
LABEL harddisk
KERNEL chain.c32
append hd0
All I get is a single dot and then the boot process stops.
What am I doing wrong?

ISOLINUX 3.85 chain.c32 issue
Hi all,
I have a similar issue with Thomas Mieslinger mentioned in the previous
mail. The difference is here isolinux is used instead of gpxelinux.0.
I use isolinux 3.85, and "chain.c32 hd0" to boot the local Debian Lenny
Linux on VMWare workstation 6.5, it fails. If I replace it with isolinux
3.84, it works.
Hope this report helps.
Steven.

Presumably you were able to boot a previous version on this physical
machine? Does it now fail before even invoking chain.c32?

Chaining with chain.c32 from syslinux 6.01 error
Yes. Prior versions (all to 6.01 inclusive) are working very well.
?And yes it fail before invoking chain.c32 (as I said in qemu there is no errors).

zfs? page faults
Hi,
I have setup an old Compaq Proliant DL580 with 2 xeon @700MHz 2Gb RAM
two SmartArray 5300 controllers and 12 drives in an array enclosure.
I am running the latest opensolaris update bfu''ed from binaries since I
could not build from source. I am controlling the drives with the
cpqary3 driver (Solaris 10) from HP.
Initially the array had 7 drives and I created a raidz zfs pool
