passwords for Samba mounts in /etc/fstab
I am trying to create a samba mount to be mounted automatically on a Redhat 7.2 machine. I can mount the drive from the command line, but would like to have the drive mount on boot. I have added it to /etc/fstab, and get prompted for a password when I run mount on it from the command line. I know it is possible to pass the "password" option, or the "credentials" option to

process hang when accessing a mounted smbfs
Hi all, I installed the samba 3.0.3 on a Fedora Core 2 and then samba 3.0.6-1 and still have the following problem. When I mount a smbfs, it sucesses but processes hang when they access the mount point and smbumount returns "Device busy". Since even system halt fails unmounting the filesystem, I have to switch off the machine. I tested either with smbmount command, or /etc/fstab

[PATCH] kinit: Add ability to mount filesystems via /etc/fstab or cmdline
This patch adds the ability to mount filesystems via an embedded fstab or via the kernel command line. When using the kernel command-line, the following format is required: 'kinit_mount=<fs_name>;<fs_dir>;<fs_type>;<fs_opts>' Multiple mount options can be specified; they are evaluated in the order they appear in the command-line. Unable to mount NetApp volume via smbfs on CentOS 6.6
Hi; Unable to mount NetApp volume via smbfs on CentOS 6.6 I have been able to mount the NetApp via smbfs from a Mac but cannot from CentOS 6.6 What I have in /etc/auto_smb on the Mac is: /Volumes/build_dir -fstype=smbfs ://domain_name;account_name:password at machine_name/partition_name What is the equivalent on CentOS 6.6? I would be modifying /etc/fstab? I don't see any examples (yet)

Smbfs problems after upgrading from Woody to Sarge
I earlier this week upgraded from Debian woody to sarge on a machine that does a nightly backup to another machine via a samba share. Since then I have had some issues with accessing that share with I believe are a result of the upgrade. I upgraded the kernel at the same time to 2.4.27-1-686 #1 via apt-get, which might be the related to the problem. Smbfs is version 3.0.6-3

The entry in fstab is: //$fileServer/$share

A samba share mounted multiple times cannot be unmounted without root
Hello, recently I've ran into the problem that if a user mounts a share multiple times, then it cannot be mounted, except by root. Here is the relevant fstab line: //sephiroth/E /home/unity/Sephiroth smbfs ro,users, noauto 0 0 A user can mount and unmount the fs fine: unity@oaklandgardens ~ $ cd ~unity/ unity@oaklandgardens ~ $ mount Sephiroth/ Password: unity@oaklandgardens ~ $ mount |

Mounting smbfs as guest at boot time
I have searched for a solution to my problem, and have only found one short discussion which mentioned it (http://samba.cadcamlab.org/lists/samba/Aug2001/msg00364.html), and I didn't feel it contained a resolution I could use. In a nutshell, I want to mount an win2k share as 'guest' at boot time on a linux web server.[1] It just won't work any way that I've tried it. I can

smbfs intermittent errors: tdb_lock failed, ERRDOS 71
Hi, I recently upgraded an older box running as a file server for a small company to Mandriva (Mandrake) 10.1. It's running Samba 3.0.10.1, the default Mandrake package. We have a custom script that mounts a Windows share using smbfs, backs up specific directories, and unmounts when it's done. The problem is, it's not mounting reliably. There is an entry in /etc/fstab for the

mount bind problem
In /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit, there's "mount -a -n -t nonfs,nfs4,smbfs,ncpfs,cifs,gfs,gfs2i,glusterfs -O no_netdev". I have other same type servers. And on other servers with same /etc/fstsb, file system is correct. There's no difference between normal server's rc.sysinit and this problem server's rc.sysinit too. Please tell me other possibility which I have to check.

Mount at boot - and a bug - where to report?

I'm getting only partial iso8859-1 translation from an smbfs mount from my Win98SE machine.
