[PATCH v2 0/4] nouveau RPM fixes for Optimus
Hi,
Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop
due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus
machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches).
See the first version[1] for a background on the fixed problems. This is the
second revision of incorporating feedback from Emil Velikov (patch 1), Mika
Westerberg (patch 4).

[PATCH v3 0/4] nouveau RPM fixes for Optimus (final)
Hi,
Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop
due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus
machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches).
These are the final patches targeting v4.8. Changes compared to v2[1]:
collected R-b from Hans and Mika and fixed a minor comment style issue.
I recommend it to be merged before

[PATCH 0/4] nouveau fixes for RPM/Optimus-related hangs
Hi,
Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop
due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus
machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches).
An older (obsolete) patch for the first issue was tested by the reporter:

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: check function before using it
Do not unconditionally invoke function 0x1B without checking for its
availability, it leads to an infinite loop on some firmware.

Hi,
I am not sure what exactly 0x1B is used for, it seems related to HDMI

VGA passthrough and nvidia optimus
Hi
Is VGA passthrough with an nvidia optimus laptop remotely feasible? For
those who don''t know, nvidia optimus is two hardware cards, connected to the
same display. One sandy bridge setup (I use the intel driver for this), and
one nvidia card. I have a laptop with this setup, and usually I''m using only
the intel card. I then use acpi_call to power down the nvidia card.

PCI Passthrough of 2 identical devices
hi,
i have a small trouble with pci-passthrough.
i have a working configuration passing a tv card into the guest, all is fine and dandy.
as soon as i add my second identical card into the host i cant start the guest anymore, whether i add the second card to the guest or not. error message is identical in both cases.

specifying the v1.

* Fix typo in commit explanation
* Change has_dsm to has_mux in nouveau_dsm_detect

[PATCH 1/1] drm/nouveau: Use generic helper to check _PR3 presence
Replace nouveau_pr3_present() in favor of a more generic one,
pci_pr3_present().
Also the presence of upstream bridge _PR3 doesn't need to go hand in
hand with device's _DSM, so check _PR3 before _DSM.

Re: PCI Passthrough of 2 identical devices
hi laine,
thx for the fast answer.
i tried VFIO as it seems supported and got at least one step further.
starting the guest with one of the DVB cards is possible now, even when the other card is in the hosts pci config (not removed soft or hard).
adding the second card/device thru ...

[PATCH v2 4/4] drm/nouveau/acpi: fix lockup with PCIe runtime PM
Since "PCI: Add runtime PM support for PCIe ports", the parent PCIe port
can be runtime-suspended which disables power resources via ACPI. This
is incompatible with DSM, resulting in a GPU device which is still in D3
and locks up the kernel on resume (on a Clevo P651RA, GTX965M).
Mirror the behavior of Windows 8 and newer[1] (as observed via an AMLi
debugger trace) and stop using the
