Confused about extending the login generator ''user''
I''ve been using the login generator ''out of the box'' for simple authentication, and its been working fine. Now I want to extend it by simply adding ''type_id'' field which links to my ''user_types'' table, but I''m hitting: #<ActionController::SessionRestoreError: Session contained objects where the class definition

Beginner problem with foreign keys
Hi, I''ve been trying to get this to work all night. I''ve made some progress by reading other posts, but I''m stuck now and can''t figure out what I am doing wrong. I have two tables: application_users and user_types. In my application_users table I have a field named "user_type_id". At first, I thought if I set up the foreign key with the correct

How do you clean up this cryptic code?
So, I''m coding my school project in Rails. There are two models, User and Restaurants. I noticed that in Restaurants, when you use the belongs_to method, you could specify the condition of the associated table. There are a few types of users, in the user_type column of the users table - owners is type 1, users are type 2. So in my haste to hand in enough code, in the Restaurant model,

Sharing controller code between views - best practices?
Hi, I have controller code that needs to be shared between multiple different user type views and want to know what is considered ''best practice'' or what other people are doing out there. Example: I have admin users, salesperson users, and possibly another type of user. They all need code to add/edit/delete a property - and other abilities. The code would be identical(in

Specifing methods in a steps_for block
Hey list, I''m refactoring some much-used functionality into a common_steps step group. Methods like this are in there: steps_for :common do Given "a number of existing $types?" do |type| @initial_item_count = type.singularize.classify.constantize.count end When "the user adds an invalid $type" do |type| post

controller filters running twice in 1.1.4?
since upgrading to 1.1.4 (I had been running without issue on a git snapshot), I''m noticing that my filter actions initiated from application.rb seem to be running twice. I created a test rails project with the rspec scaffold and am also seeing the same behavior here too. Adding this code to application.rb: before_filter :foo def foo "foo" end and an example

Possible mitigation for forgetting phabricator subcriptions for {llvm, cfe}-commits?
Does phabricator have a way of changing the default commit message template through the per-repo .arcconfig? Making the default template include the appropriate mailing list automatically might go a long way to mitigating our problems. It doesn't help when uploading through the web UI though. -- Sean Silva -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

samba forgetting printers
hi, I've a debian sid based samba 3.0.2a-1 installation running on one of our customers' servers. Everything works nicely (samba 3 & LDAP rocks!!!!), except for the printers. Upon each start, samba has all printers visible and ready. smbclient -L localhost shows the printer shares and all windoze clients can print to them. However, after some time (a day or so), samba simply forgets
