Is binary firmware still necessary for GTX660 card (NVE0 family) in order to use DRM and/or VDPAU video acceleration?
Hi Martin,
if you refer to my kernel version. 3.10.17 is the latest, stable version in
the official gentoo repository for the amd64 architeture. See here
[4] https://packages.gentoo.org/package/sys-kernel/gentoo-sources?full_cat
As long as I do not miss any features, I stay with the stable version.
Hence, if I understand you correctly, there are kernel version (newer than

Hi,
just a note for everybody who stumble across this thread in the future in
order to bring this thread to a proper end.
If I run the kernel with
nouveau.debug="PVP=debug,PBSP=debug,PPPP=debug"
I see messages about the firmware files gettings loaded. If the firmware files are
missing, I get some warnings/errors. So far everything works as expected.
But if I invoke

Hello,
I run the Gentoo Linux distribution and use a self-compiled Linux 3.10.17
kernel. According to
[1] http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallDRM/
[2] http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/VideoAcceleration/
I need the original firmware from the binary driver in order to sucessully
use DRM and to use VDPAU video acceleration. I used the python script from

rsync via ssh dumps core after being interrupted
Hi,
I'm using rsync (version 2.5.5 protocol version 26) on RedHat Linux 8.0:
rsync -ae ssh /tmp/junk/ otherhost:/tmp/junk
If I interrupt rsync (^C), sometimes rsync on the other host dumps core
or uses all (!) available memory and all CPU.
gdb on a core file:
$ gdb -q /usr/bin/rsync /tmp/core.4576
(no debugging symbols found)...
Core was generated by `/usr/bin/rsync --server --sender

Hi all,
I'm trying to build a package 'Thiele', but run into problems with generic

I have a class "Benefit", and defined the function "print.Benefit".
When I try "R CMD check Thiele" in X11, this warning came out

Domain + Workgroup with same name: problem?
Hello everybody!
I finally managed to set up a Samba 3.0.1 PDC that ran perfectly in the
test-environment. Problems arose, when I installed it in a real bureau
network.
On a prepared w2k client that was already a domain member one could log on to
the domain with the administrator's account, but trying to add other w2k
clients failed with error msgs like: "Domain controller not

w2k/XP won't join samba pdc
Hi
I'm sure this must have come up before - if so I apologise.
I have googled, read HOWTOs FAQ and numerous personal accounts on how to
configure samba as a PDC but to no avail - neither w2k nor XP will join the
domain. NT4 Workstation and Win9x I have working fine - where have I gone
wrong ?

Dear r-helpers!
Jan Thiele asked r-help-list in february, but I could not find an answer to his question. I have the same problem:
While preparing figures of 'envfit' plots with vegan for publication, I ran into a layout problem, that I found no solution for in the literature or the help archive:

Fair que between 255 users
Hello guys
I have a subnet with 255 users, which need to share 1 single slow internet
connection, so i would like to implement a kind of *fair queuing *on the
UPLOAD between them, which means that they all share the connection
equally..
The tools that i have available is: A linux box with IPROUTE2,HTB and TC..
I have looked at some examples, and my first idea was to make 255 entries in

Re: Standalone Shaping
On a router, there is no need for and IMQ because there is always an
egress path.
For example:
Internet -> eth1 -> iptables -> routing -> ... -> egress qdisc ->
eth0 -> LAN
LAN -> eth0 -> iptables -> routing -> .... -> egress qdisc -> eth1
-> Internet
Local Process / Proxy -> routing -> iptables -> egress qdisc ->
eth1/eth0 ->
